Chapter 96

1 O sing unto the LORD a new song: sing unto the LORD, all the earth.

*Sing a new song to God; let all people on Earth join in.

2 Sing unto the LORD, bless his name; shew forth his salvation from day to day.

*Sing to God, praise his name; show his rescue every day.

3 Declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people.

*Share his greatness with non-believers and his amazing acts with everyone.

4 For the LORD is great, and greatly to be praised: he is to be feared above all gods.

*The LORD is really big and amazing; people should praise him a lot. He's more scary than any other god.

5 For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the LORD made the heavens.

*All the other gods are fake: but the LORD created the sky.

6 Honour and majesty are before him: strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.

*Honor and greatness are with him: power and beauty are in his holy place.

7 Give unto the LORD, O ye kindreds of the people, give unto the LORD glory and strength.

*Give glory and strength to the Lord, all people groups.

8 Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come into his courts.

*Give glory to God as is fitting for His name, offer a gift and enter His temple.

9 O worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness: fear before him, all the earth.

*Worship God with pure devotion; be afraid of Him everywhere on Earth.

10 Say among the heathen that the LORD reigneth: the world also shall be established that it shall not be moved: he shall judge the people righteously.

*Tell the non-believers that the LORD is in charge: the world will be stable and won't shake; He will fairly judge all people.

11 Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof.

*Let the sky celebrate, and let the land be happy; let the ocean make noise, and all its creatures.

12 Let the field be joyful, and all that is therein: then shall all the trees of the wood rejoice

*Let the fields celebrate, and everything in them; then all the forest trees will be happy.

13 Before the LORD: for he cometh, for he cometh to judge the earth: he shall judge the world with righteousness, and the people with his truth.

*Before God: because he is coming, because he is coming to judge the world: he will judge the earth with fairness, and people with truth.
