1 Give unto the LORD, O ye mighty, give unto the LORD glory and strength.
*Give glory and strength to God, powerful people, give glory and strength to God.
2 Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.
*Give glory to God as is fitting for His name; worship God with holy beauty.
3 The voice of the LORD is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the LORD is upon many waters.
*The Lord's voice echoes over the water: the glorious God thunders; the Lord is present on numerous waters.
4 The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.
*The voice of God is strong and grand.
5 The voice of the LORD breaketh the cedars; yea, the LORD breaketh the cedars of Lebanon.
*The voice of God splits the giant trees; yes, God splits the big trees of Lebanon.
6 He maketh them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn.
*He makes them dance like a playful calf; Lebanon and Sirion move like a young, graceful horse-like creature.
7 The voice of the LORD divideth the flames of fire.
*The voice of God splits the fire's flames.
8 The voice of the LORD shaketh the wilderness; the LORD shaketh the wilderness of Kadesh.
*The Lord's voice shakes the desert; the Lord shakes the Kadesh desert.
9 The voice of the LORD maketh the hinds to calve, and discovereth the forests: and in his temple doth every one speak of his glory.
*The Lord's voice makes deer give birth and reveals the forests. In His temple, everyone talks about His greatness.
10 The LORD sitteth upon the flood; yea, the LORD sitteth King for ever.
*The Lord sits on the sea; yes, the Lord is an eternal king.
11 The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace.
*God will give his people strength; God will bring peace to his people.
