Praise ye the LORD. Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise in the congregation of saints.
*Praise the Lord. Sing a new song to the Lord and His praises among the group of holy people.
2
Let Israel rejoice in him that made him: let the children of Zion be joyful in their King.
*Let Israel be happy because of the one who created them; let the children of Zion celebrate their king.
3
Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp.
*Praise his name through dancing, and sing to him using drums and harps.
4
For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation.
*The LORD enjoys his followers: he will make the humble beautiful with rescue.
5
Let the saints be joyful in glory: let them sing aloud upon their beds.
*Let the holy people be happy because of their greatness: let them loudly sing while lying on their beds.
6
Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand;
*Let people praise God greatly and hold a sword with two sharp sides.
7
To execute vengeance upon the heathen, and punishments upon the people;
*To take revenge on the non-believers and punish the people;
8
To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron;
*To put the kings under control with chains, and the important people with strong metal bracelets.
9
To execute upon them the judgment written: this honour have all his saints. Praise ye the LORD.
*To carry out God's written judgment on them: this honor belongs to all his holy ones. Praise the Lord.
