Chapter 22

KJV: My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?

Geneva: To him that excelleth vpon Aiieleth Hasshahar. A Psalme of Dauid. My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me, and art so farre from mine health, and from the wordes of my roaring?

KJV: O my God, I cry in the day time, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent.

Geneva: O my God, I crie by day, but thou hearest not, and by night, but haue no audience.

KJV: But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.

Geneva: But thou art holy, and doest inhabite the prayses of Israel.

KJV: Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them.

Geneva: Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didest deliuer them.

KJV: They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded.

Geneva: They called vpon thee, and were deliuered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded.

KJV: But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people.

Geneva: But I am a worme, and not a man: a shame of men, and the contempt of the people.

KJV: All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,

Geneva: All they that see me, haue me in derision: they make a mowe and nod the head, saying,

KJV: He trusted on the LORD that he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him.

Geneva: He trusted in the Lorde, let him deliuer him: let him saue him, seeing he loueth him.

KJV: But thou art he that took me out of the womb: thou didst make me hope when I was upon my mother’s breasts.

Geneva: But thou didest draw me out of ye wombe: thou gauest me hope, euen at my mothers breasts.

KJV: I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother’s belly.

Geneva: I was cast vpon thee, euen from ye wombe: thou art my God from my mothers belly.

KJV: Be not far from me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help.

Geneva: Be not farre from me, because trouble is neere: for there is none to helpe me.

KJV: Many bulls have compassed me: strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round.

Geneva: Many yong bulles haue compassed me: mightie bulles of Bashan haue closed me about.

KJV: They gaped upon me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion.

Geneva: They gape vpon me with their mouthes, as a ramping and roaring lyon.

KJV: I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels.

Geneva: I am like water powred out, and all my bones are out of ioynt: mine heart is like waxe: it is molten in the middes of my bowels.

KJV: My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.

Geneva: My strength is dryed vp like a potsheard, and my tongue cleaueth to my iawes, and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.

KJV: For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.

Geneva: For dogges haue compassed me, and the assemblie of the wicked haue inclosed me: they perced mine hands and my feete.

KJV: I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me.

Geneva: I may tell all my bones: yet they beholde, and looke vpon me.

KJV: They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.

Geneva: They part my garments among them, and cast lottes vpon my vesture.

KJV: But be not thou far from me, O LORD: O my strength, haste thee to help me.

Geneva: But be thou not farre off, O Lorde, my strength: hasten to helpe me.

KJV: Deliver my soul from the sword; my darling from the power of the dog.

Geneva: Deliuer my soule from the sword: my desolate soule from the power of the dogge.

KJV: Save me from the lion’s mouth: for thou hast heard me from the horns of the unicorns.

Geneva: Saue me from the lyons mouth, and answere me in sauing me from the hornes of the vnicornes.

KJV: I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee.

Geneva: I wil declare thy Name vnto my brethren: in the middes of the Congregation will I praise thee, saying,

KJV: Ye that fear the LORD, praise him; all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify him; and fear him, all ye the seed of Israel.

Geneva: Prayse the Lord, ye that feare him: magnifie ye him, all the seede of Iaakob, and feare ye him, all the seede of Israel.

KJV: For he hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; neither hath he hid his face from him; but when he cried unto him, he heard.

Geneva: For he hath not despised nor abhorred ye affliction of the poore: neither hath he hid his face from him, but when he called vnto him, he heard.

KJV: My praise shall be of thee in the great congregation: I will pay my vows before them that fear him.

Geneva: My prayse shalbe of thee in the great Congregation: my vowes will I perfourme before them that feare him.

KJV: The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the LORD that seek him: your heart shall live for ever.

Geneva: The poore shall eate and be satisfied: they that seeke after the Lorde, shall prayse him: your heart shall liue for euer.

KJV: All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.

Geneva: All the endes of the worlde shall remember themselues, and turne to the Lord: and all the kinreds of the nations shall worship before thee.

KJV: For the kingdom is the LORD’s: and he is the governor among the nations.

Geneva: For the kingdome is the Lords, and he ruleth among the nations.

KJV: All they that be fat upon earth shall eat and worship: all they that go down to the dust shall bow before him: and none can keep alive his own soul.

Geneva: All they that be fat in the earth, shall eate and worship: all they that go downe into the dust, shall bowe before him, euen he that cannot quicken his owne soule.

KJV: A seed shall serve him; it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation.

Geneva: Their seede shall serue him: it shalbe counted vnto the Lord for a generation.

KJV: They shall come, and shall declare his righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that he hath done this.

Geneva: They shall come, and shall declare his righteousnesse vnto a people that shall be borne, because he hath done it.
