Chapter 146

1 Praise ye the LORD. Praise the LORD, O my soul.

*Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord, my soul.

2 While I live will I praise the LORD: I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being.

*As long as I'm alive, I will praise the Lord. I will sing to my God for as long as I exist.

3 Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.

*Don't rely on powerful people or human leaders, because they can't provide real assistance.

4 His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish.

*His breath leaves, he goes back to the ground; on that same day, his thoughts disappear.

5 Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God:

*It's blessed to have God's help, with hope in Him as our main support.

6 Which made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all that therein is: which keepeth truth for ever:

*Which created the sky, land, ocean, and everything within them: who always upholds truth.

7 Which executeth judgment for the oppressed: which giveth food to the hungry. The LORD looseth the prisoners:

*The Lord helps those treated unfairly, gives food to the hungry, and sets free those who are imprisoned.

8 The LORD openeth the eyes of the blind: the LORD raiseth them that are bowed down: the LORD loveth the righteous:

*The Lord makes the blind see, helps those who are struggling, and loves those who do what is right.

9 The LORD preserveth the strangers; he relieveth the fatherless and widow: but the way of the wicked he turneth upside down.

*The Lord protects those who are not from there, helps orphans and widows, but turns the path of bad people around.

10 The LORD shall reign for ever, even thy God, O Zion, unto all generations. Praise ye the LORD.

*God will forever rule, Zion, your eternal ruler! Praise the Lord through all generations.
