Back to Chapters
1
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
*God protects and supports us, always there when we face difficulties.
2
Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
*So, we won't be afraid even if the earth shakes and mountains move into the ocean.
3
Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.
*Even though the water rages and is upset, and the mountains tremble from its strength. Stop and think about it.
4
There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.
*There is a river that brings joy to God's city, the sacred home of the highest one's dwelling places.
5
God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.
*God is with her; she won't fall: God will assist her quickly.
6
The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted.
*The non-believers became furious, kingdoms were shaken: he loudly spoke, the earth trembled and melted.
7
The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
*God, the powerful leader, is by our side; He's our safety. Pause for a moment to reflect on that.
8
Come, behold the works of the LORD, what desolations he hath made in the earth.
*Come see the Lord's actions; look at the destruction he has caused on Earth.
9
He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire.
*He stops wars all around the world; he breaks the bow and splits the spear; he sets the chariot on fire.
10
Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
*Be calm and understand that I'm God; I will be praised by people from far away, and I will be honored on Earth.
11
The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
*God, the powerful leader, is by our side; He's our safety. Pause for a moment to reflect on that.
