Chapter 104

Bless the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty.
*Praise the Lord, my soul. Oh Lord God, you are so great; you wear honor and grandness.
2
Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain:
*Who wraps themselves in light like a cloak: who spreads out the sky like a screen.
3
Who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters: who maketh the clouds his chariot: who walketh upon the wings of the wind:
*Who sets up the supports of their rooms over the water? Who makes the clouds his ride? Who walks on the wings of the wind?
4
Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire:
*Who creates his angels as spiritual beings; his helpers as blazing fire.
5
Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever.
*Who created the Earth's base, so it won't disappear forever.
6
Thou coveredst it with the deep as with a garment: the waters stood above the mountains.
*You covered it like a cloak with deep water: the waters rose above the mountains.
7
At thy rebuke they fled; at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away.
*When you scolded, they ran away; when you let out a loud thunder sound, they quickly left.
8
They go up by the mountains; they go down by the valleys unto the place which thou hast founded for them.
*They climb mountains; they descend valleys to the spot you've set for them.
9
Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over; that they turn not again to cover the earth.
*You have set a limit so they cannot go beyond it, preventing them from returning to cover the Earth.
10
He sendeth the springs into the valleys, which run among the hills.
*He sends water to the lowlands, which flows between the mountains.
11
They give drink to every beast of the field: the wild asses quench their thirst.
*They provide water for all land animals: wild donkeys also drink.
12
By them shall the fowls of the heaven have their habitation, which sing among the branches.
*By these, birds in the sky will find their homes, singing in the tree branches.
13
He watereth the hills from his chambers: the earth is satisfied with the fruit of thy works.
*He waters the mountains from his room: the land is happy with the results of what you do.
14
He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth;
*He makes plants grow for animals to eat and herbs for people's use. This way, he provides food from the earth.
15
And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man’s heart.
*Wine brings joy to people's hearts, oil makes their faces glow, and bread gives them strength.
16
The trees of the LORD are full of sap; the cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted;
*The trees belonging to God have sap flowing in them; the cedar trees of Lebanon, which He has planted.
17
Where the birds make their nests: as for the stork, the fir trees are her house.
*In places where birds build homes, the stork lives in tall pine trees.
18
The high hills are a refuge for the wild goats; and the rocks for the conies.
*The tall mountains protect wild goats; and rocks offer shelter to rabbits.
19
He appointed the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth his going down.
*He set up the moon to mark the different times of the year; the sun knows when it sets.
20
Thou makest darkness, and it is night: wherein all the beasts of the forest do creep forth.
*You make darkness, turning it into nighttime; this is when all the forest animals come out.
21
The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their meat from God.
*Young lions loudly hunt for their food, looking to God for sustenance.
22
The sun ariseth, they gather themselves together, and lay them down in their dens.
*The sun rises; they collect and rest in their hiding places.
23
Man goeth forth unto his work and to his labour until the evening.
*A person goes out to do their job and work until the end of the day.
24
O LORD, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.
*O GOD, how many different things you have created! You made everything with wisdom. The world is filled with your treasures.
25
So is this great and wide sea, wherein are things creeping innumerable, both small and great beasts.
*Thus, the vast ocean contains countless crawling creatures, from tiny ones to large animals.
26
There go the ships: there is that leviathan, whom thou hast made to play therein.
*The boats sail away; there's that huge sea creature you created for them to interact with.
27
These wait all upon thee; that thou mayest give them their meat in due season.
*These depend on you to provide their food at the right time.
28
That thou givest them they gather: thou openest thine hand, they are filled with good.
*Whatever you give, they collect: you open your hand, and they are filled with goodness.
29
Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled: thou takest away their breath, they die, and return to their dust.
*You hide your presence, causing them to worry; you take away their life, they die and turn back into dust.
30
Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created: and thou renewest the face of the earth.
*You send your spirit; things are made: you also make the world new again.
31
The glory of the LORD shall endure for ever: the LORD shall rejoice in his works.
*The greatness of God will last forever; God will be happy with what God has created.
32
He looketh on the earth, and it trembleth: he toucheth the hills, and they smoke.
*He looks at the Earth, and it shakes: he touches the mountains, and they release smoke.
33
I will sing unto the LORD as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.
*I will sing to God for as long as I live. I will praise my amaker as long as I exist.
34
My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the LORD.
*I will think happily about Him; I will be joyful in the Lord.
35
Let the sinners be consumed out of the earth, and let the wicked be no more. Bless thou the LORD, O my soul. Praise ye the LORD.
*Let wrongdoers disappear from the world, and let evil people stop existing. Praise the Lord, my soul. Celebrate the Lord.
