1
In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion.
*In you, Lord, I place my trust: don't let me be embarrassed.
2
Deliver me in thy righteousness, and cause me to escape: incline thine ear unto me, and save me.
*Help me with your fairness, protect me and listen to my plea, then rescue me.
3
Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress.
*Make you my safe home, where I can always go; you've ordered to protect me, as you are my rock and my stronghold.
4
Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.
*Save me, God, from the evil person's grip, from the unjust and harsh individual.
5
For thou art my hope, O Lord GOD: thou art my trust from my youth.
*Because you are my hope, Lord God: you have been my trust since I was young.
6
By thee have I been holden up from the womb: thou art he that took me out of my mother’s bowels: my praise shall be continually of thee.
*You have supported me since I was born. You were the one who helped me come out of my mom's belly. I will always give you praise.
7
I am as a wonder unto many; but thou art my strong refuge.
*I'm amazing to many people, but you are my powerful protection.
8
Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honour all the day.
*Let me always talk about how great you are and give you credit throughout the whole day.
9
Cast me not off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength faileth.
*Don't abandon me when I'm older; don't leave me when I'm weak.
10
For mine enemies speak against me; and they that lay wait for my soul take counsel together,
*My enemies talk about me, and those wanting to harm me are planning together.
11
Saying, God hath forsaken him: persecute and take him; for there is none to deliver him.
*"God has left him alone," they said. "Go and capture him because no one will save him."
12
O God, be not far from me: O my God, make haste for my help.
*Dear God, don't be far away: Dear God, please come quickly to help me.
13
Let them be confounded and consumed that are adversaries to my soul; let them be covered with reproach and dishonour that seek my hurt.
*Let those who oppose me be confused and destroyed. Those who want to harm me should be disgraced and shamed.
14
But I will hope continually, and will yet praise thee more and more.
*I will always keep hoping and will continue to praise you even more.
15
My mouth shall shew forth thy righteousness and thy salvation all the day; for I know not the numbers thereof.
*My mouth will display your fairness and rescue, all day long; because I don't know its limits.
16
I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD: I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only.
*I will move forward with God's power, talking about your goodness and no one else's.
17
O God, thou hast taught me from my youth: and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works.
*Dear God, you've taught me since I was young, and I've always shared your amazing deeds.
18
Now also when I am old and greyheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come.
*Even when I'm old and gray-haired, God, don't leave me alone. Help me show your strength to this current group of people and your power to everyone in the future.
19
Thy righteousness also, O God, is very high, who hast done great things: O God, who is like unto thee!
*Your justice, God, is extremely great, as you've done amazing things. Oh God, nobody is like you!
20
Thou, which hast shewed me great and sore troubles, shalt quicken me again, and shalt bring me up again from the depths of the earth.
*You, who have shown me great and painful difficulties, will make me alive again and lift me up from the deep parts of the ground.
21
Thou shalt increase my greatness, and comfort me on every side.
*You will make me greater and comfort me in all ways.
22
I will also praise thee with the psaltery, even thy truth, O my God: unto thee will I sing with the harp, O thou Holy One of Israel.
*I will praise you with a musical instrument, highlighting your truth, dear God. I will sing to you with a harp, holy one of Israel.
23
My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing unto thee; and my soul, which thou hast redeemed.
*When I sing to you, my lips will be very happy, and my soul, which you saved, will also be joyful.
24
My tongue also shall talk of thy righteousness all the day long: for they are confounded, for they are brought unto shame, that seek my hurt.
*My tongue will keep talking about your goodness all day. This is because those who want to harm me are confused and ashamed.
