1
I love the LORD, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications.
*I love God, as he listens to my prayers and requests.
2
Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.
*Since he listens to me, I'll keep calling on him as much as I live.
3
The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow.
*Death's sadness surrounded me, and hell's pain grabbed me; I experienced trouble and sadness.
4
Then called I upon the name of the LORD; O LORD, I beseech thee, deliver my soul.
*Then, I cried out to God's name for help; God, please save me from this danger.
5
Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful.
*The LORD is kind and fair. He's our compassionate God.
6
The LORD preserveth the simple: I was brought low, and he helped me.
*The Lord protects innocent people. I was humbled, and he supported me.
7
Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the LORD hath dealt bountifully with thee.
*Relax, my soul; for the Lord has been very generous to you.
8
For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.
*Because you saved my life from death, my eyes from crying, and my feet from stumbling.
9
I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living.
*I will follow God in the land of life.
10
I believed, therefore have I spoken: I was greatly afflicted:
*I trusted, so I spoke; I faced much suffering.
11
I said in my haste, All men are liars.
*I quickly said, "Every person is not truthful."
12
What shall I render unto the LORD for all his benefits toward me?
*What can I give to God for all the good things He has done for me?
13
I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the LORD.
*I'll accept the cup of saving, and ask God's name for help.
14
I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people.
*I'll fulfill my promises to God here, in front of everyone.
15
Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.
*The LORD highly values the death of his faithful followers.
16
O LORD, truly I am thy servant; I am thy servant, and the son of thine handmaid: thou hast loosed my bonds.
*O GOD, really I am your helper; I am your helper and the child of your maid; you have freed me from my restraints.
17
I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the LORD.
*I will give you a thank-you offering and pray to God's name.
18
I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people,
*I'll fulfill my promises to God here, in front of everyone.
19
In the courts of the LORD’s house, in the midst of thee, O Jerusalem. Praise ye the LORD.
*In God's home, right among you, dear Jerusalem. Celebrate and honor God.
