Chapter 121
Back to Chapters
1
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
*I'll look to the mountains for help, because that's where my strength comes from.
2
My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.
*My help comes from the Lord, who created the sky and the ground.
3
He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
*He won't let your foot slip; the one watching over you doesn't sleep.
4
Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
*Look, the one who watches over Israel won't doze off or rest.
5
The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.
*The Lord protects you; the Lord provides shade for you, like a hand shielding from the sun.
6
The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.
*The sun won't hurt you during the day, nor will the moon at night.
7
The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.
*The Lord will protect you from everything bad; He will keep your spirit safe.
8
The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.
*The Lord will protect you when you leave and when you return, forever starting now.
