Chapter 126

1 When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.

*When God brought back the people of Jerusalem from captivity, it felt like we were in a dream.

2 Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them.

*Then we were full of joy and song, while people from other nations said, "The Lord has done amazing things for them."

3 The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.

*The Lord has done wonderful things for us, and we are happy about it.

4 Turn again our captivity, O LORD, as the streams in the south.

*Return our capture, God, like the rivers in the southern region.

5 They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.

*Those who plant while sad will harvest while happy.

6 He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.

*Who goes out and cries, carrying valuable seeds, will surely return happily, bringing their harvest with them.
