Chapter 34

1
I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
*I will always praise the Lord, with his praises always on my lips.
2
My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.
*My soul will be proud of the Lord; the humble people will hear about it and feel happy.
3
O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together.
*Let's praise the Lord together and make His name great.
4
I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.
*I looked for God, and he listened, and saved me from everything that scared me.
5
They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.
*They watched him and felt better. Their faces didn't feel embarrassed.
6
This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.
*The sad guy called out for help, and God listened, rescuing him from all his problems.
7
The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.
*The angel helps those who respect and trust him, protecting them.
8
O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.
*Taste and experience that God is good; happy is the person who trusts in Him.
9
O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.
*Be afraid of God, his good people, because those who fear him will never lack anything.
10
The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing.
*Young lions are hungry and struggling. But those who search for the Lord will never miss out on anything good.
11
Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD.
*Listen, kids, pay attention to me: I'll teach you to respect God.
12
What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good?
*Who is the person who wants to live and enjoys long days, so they can experience goodness?
13
Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.
*Avoid saying bad things with your mouth and don't lie with your words.
14
Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.
*Leave wrongdoing and choose to do good; look for peace and work towards it.
15
The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.
*God watches over good people, and hears their calls for help.
16
The face of the LORD is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.
*God's face opposes those who do wrong, to erase their memory from the earth.
17
The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.
*The good people pray, and God listens, saving them from all their problems.
18
The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
*God is close to those with a broken heart, and saves those who are truly sorry.
19
Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.
*There are lots of troubles for good people, but God saves them from everything.
20
He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken.
*He keeps all his bones intact; none are broken.
21
Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate.
*Evil will punish the bad people, and those who dislike good people will be alone and unhappy.
22
The LORD redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate.
*The Lord saves the souls of his followers, and those who believe in Him will never feel alone.
