Chapter 145

1 I will extol thee, my God, O king; and I will bless thy name for ever and ever.

*I will praise you, my God, great king; and I will continually thank your name forever and ever.

2 Every day will I bless thee; and I will praise thy name for ever and ever.

*Every day, I will thank you. And I will always praise your name.

3 Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable.

*God is really amazing and deserves lots of praise. His greatness is too huge to fully understand.

4 One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts.

*Each new group of people will talk about your great deeds to the next group and share stories of your incredible power.

5 I will speak of the glorious honour of thy majesty, and of thy wondrous works.

*I'll talk about your great glory and amazing actions.

6 And men shall speak of the might of thy terrible acts: and I will declare thy greatness.

*Men will talk about your powerful, scary actions, and I will tell everyone how great you are.

7 They shall abundantly utter the memory of thy great goodness, and shall sing of thy righteousness.

*They will talk a lot about your great kindness and sing about your fairness.

8 The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.

*The LORD is kind and very caring. He is patient with anger and shows lots of mercy.

9 The LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.

*The LORD is kind to everyone, and his gentle compassion is on everything he creates.

10 All thy works shall praise thee, O LORD; and thy saints shall bless thee.

*All your creations will honor you, God; and your holy ones will thank you.

11 They shall speak of the glory of thy kingdom, and talk of thy power;

*They will discuss your kingdom's greatness and mention your strength.

12 To make known to the sons of men his mighty acts, and the glorious majesty of his kingdom.

*To show everyone the great things he does and how amazing his kingdom is.

13 Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and thy dominion endureth throughout all generations.

*Your kingdom lasts forever, and your rule continues through every generation.

14 The LORD upholdeth all that fall, and raiseth up all those that be bowed down.

*The Lord supports everyone who falls and lifts up those who are bent over.

15 The eyes of all wait upon thee; and thou givest them their meat in due season.

*All eyes watch you, and you give them food at the right time.

16 Thou openest thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing.

*You open your hand, providing for all living beings' needs.

17 The LORD is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works.

*God does everything justly and perfectly, and every action is pure.

18 The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth.

*God is close to everyone who calls to Him, especially those who call sincerely.

19 He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them.

*He'll satisfy those who trust him; he'll listen to their calls and rescue them.

20 The LORD preserveth all them that love him: but all the wicked will he destroy.

*The Lord protects those who love Him, but He will destroy all the wicked people.

21 My mouth shall speak the praise of the LORD: and let all flesh bless his holy name for ever and ever.

*I will talk about how great the Lord is, and everyone should always give thanks to His special name.
