1 MAKE HASTE, O GOD, TO DELIVER ME; MAKE HASTE TO HELP ME, O LORD.

*Hurry up, God, to save me; hurry to help me, Lord.

2 Let them be ashamed and confounded that seek after my soul: let them be turned backward, and put to confusion, that desire my hurt.

*Let those who chase me feel embarrassed and confused; those seeking my harm should fail and become disoriented.

3 Let them be turned back for a reward of their shame that say, Aha, aha.

*Let those who say "Aha, aha" experience shame and receive a reward for it.

4 Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: and let such as love thy salvation say continually, Let God be magnified.

*All who look for you, be happy and celebrate! Those who love your rescue should keep saying, "Let God be praised greatly!"

5 But I am poor and needy: make haste unto me, O God: thou art my help and my deliverer; O LORD, make no tarrying.

*But I have nothing; hurry, God, to help me! You are my strength and savior, Lord; don't delay.
