1
O GOD, the heathen are come into thine inheritance; thy holy temple have they defiled; they have laid Jerusalem on heaps.
*O GOD, those who don't believe have entered your special land; they have made your sacred place dirty; they have destroyed Jerusalem.
2
The dead bodies of thy servants have they given to be meat unto the fowls of the heaven, the flesh of thy saints unto the beasts of the earth.
*They fed birds in the sky with your servants' bodies and gave your holy people's flesh to the animals on the ground.
3
Their blood have they shed like water round about Jerusalem; and there was none to bury them.
*They spilled their blood like water all around Jerusalem, and no one was there to bury them.
4
We are become a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and derision to them that are round about us.
*We have become a disgrace to our neighbors, a joke and mockery to those around us.
5
How long, LORD? wilt thou be angry for ever? shall thy jealousy burn like fire?
*For how long, Lord? will you be upset forever? will your jealousy be as strong as fire?
6
Pour out thy wrath upon the heathen that have not known thee, and upon the kingdoms that have not called upon thy name.
*Release your anger on those who don't know you and on the nations that haven't called on your name.
7
For they have devoured Jacob, and laid waste his dwelling place.
*For they destroyed Jacob's home and ate up everything there.
8
O remember not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: for we are brought very low.
*Don't remember our past mistakes; show us your kindness quickly, because we are struggling a lot.
9
Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.
*God, save us from trouble for your fame's sake. Forgive our mistakes and cleanse us, all for the sake of your reputation.
10
Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is their God? let him be known among the heathen in our sight by the revenging of the blood of thy servants which is shed.
*Why should non-believers ask, "Where is their God?" Let Him show Himself to them by avenging the blood of Your followers who have been killed.
11
Let the sighing of the prisoner come before thee; according to the greatness of thy power preserve thou those that are appointed to die;
*Let the cries of prisoners reach you; protect, according to your strength, those who are meant to die.
12
And render unto our neighbours sevenfold into their bosom their reproach, wherewith they have reproached thee, O Lord.
*Give neighbors seven times the insults they gave you, Lord.
13
So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations.
*So, our people will thank you forever, God; we will tell everyone about your greatness through all time.
