Chapter 99

1 The LORD reigneth; let the people tremble: he sitteth between the cherubims; let the earth be moved.

*God is in control, so people should be afraid; He sits between the angels called cherubs; the earth should shake.

2 The LORD is great in Zion; and he is high above all the people.

*God is really big in Zion; he's way higher than everyone else.

3 Let them praise thy great and terrible name; for it is holy.

*Praise the big and powerful name; it's special and clean.

4 The king’s strength also loveth judgment; thou dost establish equity, thou executest judgment and righteousness in Jacob.

*The king's power likes fair decisions. You make things equal and do what is right in the country of Jacob.

5 Exalt ye the LORD our God, and worship at his footstool; for he is holy.

*Praise the Lord our God and show him respect; for he is truly holy.

6 Moses and Aaron among his priests, and Samuel among them that call upon his name; they called upon the LORD, and he answered them.

*Moses and Aaron, along with other priests, and Samuel, who prayed to God, all asked for His help. God listened and responded to their prayers.

7 He spake unto them in the cloudy pillar: they kept his testimonies, and the ordinance that he gave them.

*He talked to them through a cloudy pillar. They followed his teachings and the rules he gave them.

8 Thou answeredst them, O LORD our God: thou wast a God that forgavest them, though thou tookest vengeance of their inventions.

*You replied to them, Lord God: you are a God who forgives them, even though you punish their wrongdoings.

9 Exalt the LORD our God, and worship at his holy hill; for the LORD our God is holy.

*Praise God and worship him on his sacred mountain because he is holy.
