1
Praise ye the LORD. Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD, that delighteth greatly in his commandments.
*Praise the Lord. Happy is the person who fears the Lord and loves his rules a lot.
2
His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed.
*His descendants will be powerful on Earth: the offspring of those who do right will be prosperous.
3
Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth for ever.
*Wealth and riches will be in his home, and his fairness lasts forever.
4
Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.
*In the dark, honest people get light. They are kind, caring, and fair.
5
A good man sheweth favour, and lendeth: he will guide his affairs with discretion.
*A kind person helps others and shares what they have; they carefully handle their own matters.
6
Surely he shall not be moved for ever: the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance.
*He will never be forgotten; the good will always be remembered forever.
7
He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD.
*He won't fear bad news; his heart is steady, relying on the Lord.
8
His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he see his desire upon his enemies.
*His heart is steady; he won't fear until he sees his wish come true against his foes.
9
He hath dispersed, he hath given to the poor; his righteousness endureth for ever; his horn shall be exalted with honour.
*He has shared with the needy; his fairness lasts forever; his strength will be lifted with respect.
10
The wicked shall see it, and be grieved; he shall gnash with his teeth, and melt away: the desire of the wicked shall perish.
*The bad people will see it and be sad. They will grind their teeth and disappear. The wishes of the bad people will fail.
