Psalms 90

Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations.

Lord, you have always been the place where we live and find safety throughout all time.

Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.

Before mountains appeared or Earth and World were created, from eternity to eternity, you have been God.

Thou turnest man to destruction; and sayest, Return, ye children of men.

You make people go towards destruction, then tell them to come back, you tell the human children.

For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.

For a thousand years are like a short day or a quick watch at night, to God.

Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: in the morning they are like grass which groweth up.

You carry them away like a flood; they are like sleeping people. In the morning, they are like grass that grows quickly.

In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up; in the evening it is cut down, and withereth.

In the morning, it thrives and grows. In the evening, it gets cut down and dies.

For we are consumed by thine anger, and by thy wrath are we troubled.

Because of your anger, we are destroyed, and your fury makes us distressed.

Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret sins in the light of thy countenance.

You have shown that you see our wrongdoings, even the ones we try to hide, while being exposed to your presence.

For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a tale that is told.

All our lives go by while experiencing your anger; we live our years like a story being shared.

The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.

Our lives last around 70 years. If we live longer because we're strong, it can still be hard because our strength won't last long, and our time will end quickly.

Who knoweth the power of thine anger? even according to thy fear, so is thy wrath.

Who knows the strength of your anger? It depends on your fear; that's how intense your anger is.

So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.

Teach us to understand how many days we have, so we can focus our minds on being smart.

Return, O LORD, how long? and let it repent thee concerning thy servants.

Return, Lord, for how long? And please change your mind about your servants.

O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.

Please us early with your kindness, so we can be happy and joyful throughout our lives.

Make us glad according to the days wherein thou hast afflicted us, and the years wherein we have seen evil.

Make us happy during the times when you caused us pain, and during the years when we experienced bad things.

Let thy work appear unto thy servants, and thy glory unto their children.

Show your work to your helpers, and your greatness to their kids.

And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.

Let God's beauty be with us, and make our work successful. Please, make our work strong and established.
