1
The mighty God, even the LORD, hath spoken, and called the earth from the rising of the sun unto the going down thereof.
*The powerful God, also known as the Lord, has spoken and gathered the Earth from where the sun rises until it sets.
2
Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God hath shined.
*From Zion, the most beautiful place, God's light shone brightly.
3
Our God shall come, and shall not keep silence: a fire shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about him.
*God will arrive and won't be quiet. A fire will be ahead of Him, causing a lot of chaos around Him.
4
He shall call to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that he may judge his people.
*He will ask the sky and the earth to help him make a decision about his people.
5
Gather my saints together unto me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice.
*Bring my faithful people to me; those who have shown their commitment through sacrifices.
6
And the heavens shall declare his righteousness: for God is judge himself. Selah.
*The sky will show that God is fair: because God is the one who decides what's right or wrong. Take a break and think about that.
7
Hear, O my people, and I will speak; O Israel, and I will testify against thee: I am God, even thy God.
*Listen, my people, and I will tell you; Israel, and I will testify against you: I am the one true God, your God.
8
I will not reprove thee for thy sacrifices or thy burnt offerings, to have been continually before me.
*I won't scold you for your sacrifices or burned offerings, as they always stayed with me.
9
I will take no bullock out of thy house, nor he goats out of thy folds.
*I won't take any cattle from your home, nor any goats from your pen.
10
For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills.
*All animals in the forest belong to me, and a thousand cows on hills too.
11
I know all the fowls of the mountains: and the wild beasts of the field are mine.
*I know every bird on the mountains, and all the wild animals in the fields belong to me.
12
If I were hungry, I would not tell thee: for the world is mine, and the fulness thereof.
*If I was hungry, I wouldn't tell you because the whole world belongs to me, and everything in it.
13
Will I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats?
*"Will I consume cow meat or drink goat blood?"
14
Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High:
*Thank God and keep your promises to the highest power.
15
And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.
*Call on me when you're in trouble, I'll save you, and you'll honor me.
16
But unto the wicked God saith, What hast thou to do to declare my statutes, or that thou shouldest take my covenant in thy mouth?
*But to the bad people, God asks, Why are you talking about my rules or promising to follow them?
17
Seeing thou hatest instruction, and casteth my words behind thee.
*You don't like guidance, and you throw my words away from you.
18
When thou sawest a thief, then thou consentedst with him, and hast been partaker with adulterers.
*When you saw a thief, you agreed with them, and joined in with those who commit adultery.
19
Thou givest thy mouth to evil, and thy tongue frameth deceit.
*You give your mouth to wrongdoing, and your tongue creates lies.
20
Thou sittest and speakest against thy brother; thou slanderest thine own mother’s son.
*You sit and talk bad about your brother; you say bad things about your own mom's child.
21
These things hast thou done, and I kept silence; thou thoughtest that I was altogether such an one as thyself: but I will reprove thee, and set them in order before thine eyes.
*You did these actions, and I didn't say anything; you believed I was just like you. But I will correct you and show you the truth clearly.
22
Now consider this, ye that forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver.
*So think about this - don't forget about God. Otherwise, I might rip you apart, and no one will save you.
23
Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God.
*Whoever gives praise makes me famous, and I'll show them God's salvation if they live a good life.
