Chapter 130

1 Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O LORD.

*From deep pain, I've called to you, God.

2 Lord, hear my voice: let thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications.

*Dear God, pay attention to my voice: please listen carefully to my prayers.

3 If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand?

*If you, God, counted sins, oh Lord, who would be left standing?

4 But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.

*But you can forgive, so people will respect you.

5 I wait for the LORD, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope.

*I wait for God, my soul is patient, and I hope in his message.

6 My soul waiteth for the Lord more than they that watch for the morning: I say, more than they that watch for the morning.

*My soul eagerly awaits the Lord, even more than those who look forward to the morning. I declare, my waiting is greater than those who anticipate the morning.

7 Let Israel hope in the LORD: for with the LORD there is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption.

*Let Israel trust in God because with God there is kindness and he has a lot of ways to save people.

8 And he shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities.

*And he will save Israel from all his wrongdoings.
