And it came to pass, when Israel dwelt in that land, that Reuben went and lay with Bilhah his father’s concubine: and Israel heard it. Now the sons of Jacob were twelve:

One day, when Israel lived in that land, Reuben did a bad thing by sleeping with his dad's servant girl, Bilhah. All the brothers of Reuben were 12 in total, and their dad, Jacob, found out about it.
