And so Pilate, willing to content the people, released Barabbas unto them, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified.
Simple English
So, Pilate wanted to make the people happy, so he let Barabbas go and handed over Jesus, after whipping him, to be put on a cross.
