Mark 10

And he arose from thence, and cometh into the coasts of Judaea by the farther side of Jordan: and the people resort unto him again; and, as he was wont, he taught them again.

He got up and went to the area of Judaea beyond the Jordan River. People came to him once more, and just like before, he taught them.

And the Pharisees came to him, and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting him.

The Pharisees approached Jesus and asked if it was allowed for a man to leave his wife, trying to get him to say something wrong.

And he answered and said unto them, What did Moses command you?

He replied and asked them, "What did Moses tell you to do?"

And they said, Moses suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put her away.

They said, "Moses allowed writing a paper for ending the marriage and sending her away."

And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept.

And Jesus told them, He wrote that rule because your hearts are hard.

But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.

But since the start, God created people as boys and girls.

For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife;

So that he can do this, a person should move away from their parents and be close to their partner instead.

And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.

And the two become one flesh; therefore, they are not two separate beings anymore, but one flesh.

What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

So whatever God has connected, don't let people separate.

And in the house his disciples asked him again of the same matter.

In the house, his followers asked him once more about the topic.

And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her.

He says, "Anyone who leaves their spouse to marry someone else is committing adultery."

And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.

If a woman leaves her husband and marries someone else, she is committing adultery.

And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them.

People brought little kids to Jesus for him to touch them, but his followers scolded the people who brought the kids.

But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.

But when Jesus saw it, he was unhappy and told them to let the little kids come to him and don't stop them because the kingdom of God belongs to people like them.

Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.

Jesus says, "I tell you the truth, anyone who doesn't accept God's kingdom like a small child won't be able to enter it."

And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.

He held them close, placed his hands on them, and wished them well.

And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?

Then, when Jesus went outside, a man ran up, knelt before him, and asked, "Kind teacher, what must I do to live forever?"

And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.

Jesus asked, "Why do you call me good?" Only one person is truly good - and that's God.

Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother.

You know the rules: Don't cheat on someone, Don't kill, Don't steal, Don't lie, Don't scam, Respect your parents.

And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth.

He replied, "Lord, I've followed all of these rules since I was young."

Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.

Then, Jesus looked at him and loved him. He said, "You need one more thing: sell everything you have, give it to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then, come and carry the cross with me and follow me.

And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions.

He felt sad after hearing that and left feeling upset because he had many valuable things.

And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto his disciples, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!

Jesus glanced around and told his followers, "It's hard for wealthy people to enter God's kingdom."

And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!

The disciples were surprised by what Jesus said. But Jesus replied again and asked them, "Children, is it difficult for those who rely on wealth to enter God's kingdom?"

It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

It's harder for a big camel to pass through a tiny needle hole, than for a very wealthy person to enter God's kingdom.

And they were astonished out of measure, saying among themselves, Who then can be saved?

They were extremely surprised, asking each other, Who, then, can be saved?

And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.

Jesus said to them, "It's hard for people, but easy for God because God can do anything."

Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee.

Then Peter told him, "Look, we have left everything behind and followed you."

And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s,

And Jesus replied, "I tell you the truth, no one has left their home, family members, parents, spouse, or kids, or land for my sake and the gospel's.

But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.

But he will get a hundred times more now - homes, family members, and more, plus troubles; and in the future, everlasting life.

But many that are first shall be last; and the last first.

However, those who are first might end up last, while those who are last could become first.

And they were in the way going up to Jerusalem; and Jesus went before them: and they were amazed; and as they followed, they were afraid. And he took again the twelve, and began to tell them what things should happen unto him,

They traveled together towards Jerusalem, with Jesus leading the way. They were astonished and fearful as they continued on their journey. Then, Jesus gathered the twelve disciples and told them about the events that would happen to him.

Saying, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the chief priests, and unto the scribes; and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the Gentiles:

He said, "We're going to Jerusalem. There, the Son of Man will be handed over to the religious leaders, who will sentence Him to die, then give Him to the non-Jewish people."

And they shall mock him, and shall scourge him, and shall spit upon him, and shall kill him: and the third day he shall rise again.

They will make fun of him, beat him, spit on him, and kill him. But on the third day, he will come back to life.

And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, come unto him, saying, Master, we would that thou shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall desire.

James and John, Zebedee's sons, approached him, saying, "Lord, please do whatever we ask you to."

And he said unto them, What would ye that I should do for you?

He asked them, "What do you want me to do for you?"

They said unto him, Grant unto us that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left hand, in thy glory.

They asked him, "Let us sit with you, one on your right side and one on your left side, in your great honor."

But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask: can ye drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?

But Jesus told them, "You don't understand what you're asking. Can you drink from the same cup I do, and be baptized in the same way as me?"

And they said unto him, We can. And Jesus said unto them, Ye shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized:

They replied, "We can." Jesus told them, "You will definitely drink from the same cup I drink from, and you will be baptized just like I am."

But to sit on my right hand and on my left hand is not mine to give; but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared.

But I can't choose who sits by me; it will be decided for those it's meant for.

And when the ten heard it, they began to be much displeased with James and John.

When the ten learned about it, they became very unhappy with James and John.

But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them.

But Jesus told them, "You understand that those who lead the non-Jews act like rulers over them, and the important ones have power over them."

But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister:

But don't do that among you: instead, if someone wants to be important among you, they should serve as a leader.

And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all.

Whoever among you wants to be the greatest, must serve everyone.

For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

Even Jesus didn't come to be served, but to serve others and gave his life to free many people.

And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging.

They reached Jericho, and Jesus left with his followers and many others. Nearby, sitting by the road and asking for help was a blind man named Bartimaeus, who was the son of Timaeus.

And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me.

When he learned it was Jesus from Nazareth, he shouted and said, "Jesus, Son of David, please be kind to me."

And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou son of David, have mercy on me.

People told him to be quiet, but he shouted even louder, "Son of David, please show mercy!"

And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.

Jesus stopped and told them to bring the blind man. They called out to the blind man, telling him not to worry and to stand up because Jesus was calling for him.

And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.

He threw off his clothes and stood up, then went to Jesus.

And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.

Jesus asked the man what he wanted Him to do for him. The man replied, "Lord, I want to see."

And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.

Jesus told him, "Go on your way because your strong belief made you well." Right away, he could see again and began following Jesus.
