Chapter 7

KJV: After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Jewry, because the Jews sought to kill him.

Geneva: After these things, Iesus walked in Galile, and woulde not walke in Iudea: for the Iewes sought to kill him.

KJV: Now the Jews’ feast of tabernacles was at hand.

Geneva: Nowe the Iewes feast of the Tabernacles was at hande.

KJV: His brethren therefore said unto him, Depart hence, and go into Judaea, that thy disciples also may see the works that thou doest.

Geneva: His brethren therefore sayde vnto him, Depart hence, and goe into Iudea, that thy disciples may see thy woorkes that thou doest.

KJV: For there is no man that doeth any thing in secret, and he himself seeketh to be known openly. If thou do these things, shew thyself to the world.

Geneva: For there is no man that doeth any thing secretely, and hee himselfe seeketh to be famous. If thou doest these things, shewe thy selfe to the worlde.

KJV: For neither did his brethren believe in him.

Geneva: For as yet his brethren beleeued not in him.

KJV: Then Jesus said unto them, My time is not yet come: but your time is alway ready.

Geneva: Then Iesus saide vnto them, My time is not yet come: but your time is always readie.

KJV: The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil.

Geneva: The world can not hate you: but me it hateth, because I testifie of it, that the workes thereof are euill.

KJV: Go ye up unto this feast: I go not up yet unto this feast: for my time is not yet full come.

Geneva: Go ye vp vnto this feast: I wil not go vp yet vnto this feast: for my time is not yet fulfilled.

KJV: When he had said these words unto them, he abode still in Galilee.

Geneva: These things he sayde vnto them, and abode still in Galile.

KJV: But when his brethren were gone up, then went he also up unto the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret.

Geneva: But assoone as his brethren were gone vp, then went hee also vp vnto the feast, not openly, but as it were priuilie.

KJV: Then the Jews sought him at the feast, and said, Where is he?

Geneva: Then the Iewes sought him at the feast, and saide, Where is hee?

KJV: And there was much murmuring among the people concerning him: for some said, He is a good man: others said, Nay; but he deceiveth the people.

Geneva: And much murmuring was there of him among the people. Some said, He is a good man: other sayd, Nay: but he deceiueth the people.

KJV: Howbeit no man spake openly of him for fear of the Jews.

Geneva: Howbeit no man spake openly of him for feare of the Iewes.

KJV: Now about the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and taught.

Geneva: Nowe when halfe the feast was done, Iesus went vp into the Temple and taught.

KJV: And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?

Geneva: And the Iewes marueiled, saving, Howe knoweth this man the Scriptures, seeing that hee neuer learned!

KJV: Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.

Geneva: Iesus answered them, and saide, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.

KJV: If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.

Geneva: If any man will doe his will, he shall knowe of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speake of my selfe.

KJV: He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.

Geneva: Hee that speaketh of himselfe, seeketh his owne glorie: but hee that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no vnrighteousnes is in him.

KJV: Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law? Why go ye about to kill me?

Geneva: Did not Moses giue you a Law, and yet none of you keepeth the lawe? Why goe ye about to kill me?

KJV: The people answered and said, Thou hast a devil: who goeth about to kill thee?

Geneva: The people answered, and said, Thou hast a deuil: who goeth about to kill thee?

KJV: Jesus answered and said unto them, I have done one work, and ye all marvel.

Geneva: Iesus answered, and saide to them, I haue done one worke, and ye all maruaile.

KJV: Moses therefore gave unto you circumcision; (not because it is of Moses, but of the fathers;) and ye on the sabbath day circumcise a man.

Geneva: Moses therefore gaue vnto you circumcision, (not because it is of Moses, but of the fathers) & ye on the Sabbath day circumcise a man.

KJV: If a man on the sabbath day receive circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken; are ye angry at me, because I have made a man every whit whole on the sabbath day?

Geneva: If a man on the Sabbath receiue circumcision, that the Lawe of Moses should not be broken, be ye angrie with me, because I haue made a man euery whit whole on the Sabbath day?

KJV: Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

Geneva: Iudge not according to the appearance, but iudge righteous iudgement.

KJV: Then said some of them of Jerusalem, Is not this he, whom they seek to kill?

Geneva: Then saide some of them of Hierusalem, Is not this he, whom they goe about to kill?

KJV: But, lo, he speaketh boldly, and they say nothing unto him. Do the rulers know indeed that this is the very Christ?

Geneva: And beholde, he speaketh openly, and they say nothing to him: doe the rulers know in deede that this is in deede that Christ?

KJV: Howbeit we know this man whence he is: but when Christ cometh, no man knoweth whence he is.

Geneva: Howbeit we know this man whence he is: but when that Christ commeth, no man shall knowe whence he is.

KJV: Then cried Jesus in the temple as he taught, saying, Ye both know me, and ye know whence I am: and I am not come of myself, but he that sent me is true, whom ye know not.

Geneva: Then cried Iesus in the Temple as hee taught, saying, Ye both knowe mee, and knowe whence I am: yet am I not come of my selfe, but he that sent me, is true, whome ye knowe not.

KJV: But I know him: for I am from him, and he hath sent me.

Geneva: But I knowe him: for I am of him, and he hath sent me.

KJV: Then they sought to take him: but no man laid hands on him, because his hour was not yet come.

Geneva: Then they sought to take him, but no man layde handes on him, because his houre was not yet come.

KJV: And many of the people believed on him, and said, When Christ cometh, will he do more miracles than these which this man hath done?

Geneva: Now many of the people beleeued in him, and said, When that Christ commeth, will he doe moe miracles then this man hath done?

KJV: The Pharisees heard that the people murmured such things concerning him; and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to take him.

Geneva: The Pharises heard that the people murmured these thinges of him, and the Pharises, and high Priestes sent officers to take him.

KJV: Then said Jesus unto them, Yet a little while am I with you, and then I go unto him that sent me.

Geneva: Then saide Iesus vnto them, Yet am I a little while with you, and then goe I vnto him that sent mee.

KJV: Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come.

Geneva: Ye shall seeke me, and shall not finde me, and where I am, can ye not come.

KJV: Then said the Jews among themselves, Whither will he go, that we shall not find him? will he go unto the dispersed among the Gentiles, and teach the Gentiles?

Geneva: Then saide the Iewes amongs themselues, Whither will he goe, that we shall not finde him? Will he goe vnto them that are dispersed among the Grecians, and teache the Grecians?

KJV: What manner of saying is this that he said, Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come?

Geneva: What saying is this that hee saide, Ye shall seeke mee, and shall not finde mee? and where I am, cannot ye come?

KJV: In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.

Geneva: Nowe in the last and great day of the feast, Iesus stoode and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come vnto me, and drinke.

KJV: He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

Geneva: Hee that beleeueth in mee, as saith the Scripture, out of his bellie shall flowe riuers of water of life.

KJV: (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

Geneva: ( This spake hee of the Spirite which they that beleeued in him, should receiue: for the holy Ghost was not yet giuen, because that Iesus was not yet glorified.)

KJV: Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, Of a truth this is the Prophet.

Geneva: So many of the people, when they heard this saying, said, Of a trueth this is that Prophet.

KJV: Others said, This is the Christ. But some said, Shall Christ come out of Galilee?

Geneva: Other saide, This is that Christ: and some said, But shall that Christ come out of Galile?

KJV: Hath not the scripture said, That Christ cometh of the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was?

Geneva: Saith not the Scripture that that Christ shall come of the seede of Dauid, and out of the towne of Beth-leem, where Dauid was?

KJV: So there was a division among the people because of him.

Geneva: So was there dissension among the people for him.

KJV: And some of them would have taken him; but no man laid hands on him.

Geneva: And some of them would haue taken him, but no man layde handes on him.

KJV: Then came the officers to the chief priests and Pharisees; and they said unto them, Why have ye not brought him?

Geneva: Then came the officers to the hie Priests and Pharises, and they said vnto them, Why haue ye not brought him?

KJV: The officers answered, Never man spake like this man.

Geneva: The officers answered, Neuer man spake like this man.

KJV: Then answered them the Pharisees, Are ye also deceived?

Geneva: Then answered them the Pharises, Are yee also deceiued?

KJV: Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed on him?

Geneva: Doeth any of the rulers, or of the Pharises beleeue in him?

KJV: But this people who knoweth not the law are cursed.

Geneva: But this people, which know not the Law, are cursed.

KJV: Nicodemus saith unto them, (he that came to Jesus by night, being one of them,)

Geneva: Nicodemus said vnto them, ( he that came to Iesus by night, and was one of them.)

KJV: Doth our law judge any man, before it hear him, and know what he doeth?

Geneva: Doth our Law iudge a man before it heare him, and knowe what he hath done?

KJV: They answered and said unto him, Art thou also of Galilee? Search, and look: for out of Galilee ariseth no prophet.

Geneva: They answered, and said vnto him, Art thou also of Galile? Searche and looke: for out of Galile ariseth no Prophet.

KJV: And every man went unto his own house.

Geneva: And euery man wet vnto his owne house.
