KJV: And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,

Geneva: And Iesus full of the holy Ghost returned from Iordan, and was led by that Spirit into the wildernes,

KJV: Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered.

Geneva: And was there fourtie dayes tempted of the deuil, & in those dayes he did eate nothing: but when they were ended, he afterward was hungry.

KJV: And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.

Geneva: Then the deuil saide vnto him, If thou be the Sonne of God, commaunde this stone that it be made bread.

KJV: And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

Geneva: But Iesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not liue by bread only, but by euery word of God.

KJV: And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.

Geneva: Then the deuill tooke him vp into an high mountaine, and shewed him all the kingdomes of the world, in the twinkeling of an eye.

KJV: And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.

Geneva: And the deuill saide vnto him, All this power will I giue thee, and the glory of those kingdomes: for that is deliuered to mee: and to whomsoeuer I will, I giue it.

KJV: If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.

Geneva: If thou therefore wilt worship mee, they shalbe all thine.

KJV: And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

Geneva: But Iesus answered him, and saide, Hence from mee, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lorde thy God, and him alone thou shalt serue.

KJV: And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence:

Geneva: Then hee brought him to Hierusalem, and set him on a pinacle of the Temple, and said vnto him, If thou be the Sonne of God, cast thy selfe downe from hence,

KJV: For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee:

Geneva: For it is written, That hee will giue his Angels charge ouer thee to keepe thee:

KJV: And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

Geneva: And with their handes they shall lift thee vp, least at any time thou shouldest dash thy foote against a stone.

KJV: And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

Geneva: And Iesus answered, and said vnto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

KJV: And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.

Geneva: And when the deuil had ended all the tentation, he departed from him for a litle season.

KJV: And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.

Geneva: And Iesus returned by the power of the spirite into Galile: and there went a fame of him throughout all the region round about.

KJV: And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.

Geneva: For he taught in their Synagogues, and was honoured of all men.

KJV: And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.

Geneva: And hee came to Nazareth where hee had bene brought vp, and (as his custome was) went into the Synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stoode vp to reade.

KJV: And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,

Geneva: And there was deliuered vnto him the booke of the Prophet Esaias: and when hee had opened the booke, hee founde the place, where it was written,

KJV: The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

Geneva: The Spirit of the Lorde is vpon mee, because he hath anoynted me, that I should preach the Gospel to the poore: he hath sent mee, that I should heale the broken hearted, that I should preach deliuerance to the captiues, and recouering of sight to the blinde, that I should set at libertie them that are bruised:

KJV: To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

Geneva: And that I should preache the acceptable yeere of the Lord.

KJV: And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.

Geneva: And hee closed the booke, and gaue it againe to the minister, and sate downe: and the eyes of all that were in the Synagogue were fastened on him.

KJV: And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

Geneva: Then he began to say vnto them, This day is the Scripture fulfilled in your eares.

KJV: And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph’s son?

Geneva: And all bare him witnes, and wondered at the gracious wordes, which proceeded out of his mouth, and said, Is not this Iosephs sonne?

KJV: And he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country.

Geneva: Then he said vnto them, Ye will surely say vnto mee this prouerbe, Physician, heale thy selfe: whatsoeuer we haue heard done in Capernaum, doe it here likewise in thine owne countrey.

KJV: And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country.

Geneva: And he saide, Verely I say vnto you, No Prophet is accepted in his owne countrey.

KJV: But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land;

Geneva: But I tell you of a trueth, many widowes were in Israel in the dayes of Elias, when heauen was shut three yeres and sixe moneths, when great famine was throughout all the land:

KJV: But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow.

Geneva: But vnto none of them was Elias sent, saue into Sarepta, a citie of Sidon, vnto a certaine widowe.

KJV: And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian.

Geneva: Also many lepers were in Israel, in the time of Eliseus the Prophet: yet none of them was made cleane, sauing Naaman the Syrian.

KJV: And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath,

Geneva: Then all that were in the Synagogue, when they heard it, were filled with wrath,

KJV: And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong.

Geneva: And rose vp, and thrust him out of the citie, and led him vnto the edge of the hil, whereon their citie was built, to cast him downe headlong.

KJV: But he passing through the midst of them went his way,

Geneva: But he passed through the middes of them, and went his way,

KJV: And came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them on the sabbath days.

Geneva: And came downe into Capernaum a citie of Galile, and there taught them on the Sabbath dayes.

KJV: And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power.

Geneva: And they were astonied at his doctrine: for his worde was with authoritie.

KJV: And in the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice,

Geneva: And in the Synagogue there was a man which had a spirit of an vncleane deuill, which cryed with a loude voyce,

KJV: Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God.

Geneva: Saying, Oh, what haue we to doe with thee, thou Iesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy vs? I know who thou art, euen the holy one of God.

KJV: And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the devil had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not.

Geneva: And Iesus rebuked him, saying, Holde thy peace, and come out of him. Then the deuill throwing him in the middes of them, came out of him, and hurt him nothing at all.

KJV: And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out.

Geneva: So feare came on them all, and they spake among themselues, saying, What thing is this: for with authoritie and power he commaundeth the foule spirits, and they come out?

KJV: And the fame of him went out into every place of the country round about.

Geneva: And ye fame of him spred abroad throughout all the places of the countrey round about.

KJV: And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon’s house. And Simon’s wife’s mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought him for her.

Geneva: And he rose vp, and came out of the Synagogue, and entred into Simons house; Simons wiues mother was taken with a great feuer, and they required him for her.

KJV: And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them.

Geneva: Then he stoode ouer her, and rebuked the feuer, and it left her, and immediatly she arose, and ministred vnto them.

KJV: Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.

Geneva: Now at the sunne setting, all they that had sicke folkes of diuers diseases, brought them vnto him, and he layd his hands on euery one of them, and healed them.

KJV: And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ.

Geneva: And deuils also came out of many, crying, and saying, Thou art that Christ that Sonne of God: but he rebuked them, and suffered them not to say that they knewe him to be that Christ.

KJV: And when it was day, he departed and went into a desert place: and the people sought him, and came unto him, and stayed him, that he should not depart from them.

Geneva: And when it was day, he departed, and went foorth into a desart place, and the people sought him, and came to him, and kept him that he should not depart from them.

KJV: And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent.

Geneva: But he sayd vnto them, Surely I must also preach the kingdome of God to other cities: for therefore am I sent.

KJV: And he preached in the synagogues of Galilee.

Geneva: And hee preached in the Synagogues of Galile.
