Back to ChaptersKJV - Deuteronomy 19:6 Lest the avenger of the blood pursue the slayer, while his heart is hot, and overtake him, because the way is long, and slay him; whereas he was not worthy of death, inasmuch as he hated him not in time past. To avoid the person seeking revenge for the murder from catching the killer when their anger is strong, since it takes a long time to catch them, and accidentally killing them; because the killer didn't really deserve to die, as they didn't hate the victim before.
