Chapter 27

1 And thou shalt make an altar of shittim wood, five cubits long, and five cubits broad; the altar shall be foursquare: and the height thereof shall be three cubits.
*You should build an altar from acacia wood, measuring 5 feet long and 5 feet wide; it should be perfectly square, and its height should be 3 feet.
2 And thou shalt make the horns of it upon the four corners thereof: his horns shall be of the same: and thou shalt overlay it with brass.
*You should make the horn-shaped decorations on the four corners of it; they should be made from the same material, and you should cover it all with bronze.
3 And thou shalt make his pans to receive his ashes, and his shovels, and his basons, and his fleshhooks, and his firepans: all the vessels thereof thou shalt make of brass.
*Make containers for his ashes, along with shovels, bowls, meat hooks, and fire pans - all these items should be made from brass.
4 And thou shalt make for it a grate of network of brass; and upon the net shalt thou make four brasen rings in the four corners thereof.
*You shall create a brass grid with holes, and attach four bronze rings at each corner.
5 And thou shalt put it under the compass of the altar beneath, that the net may be even to the midst of the altar.
*And you shall place it under the altar's edge, so the net is centered with the altar.
6 And thou shalt make staves for the altar, staves of shittim wood, and overlay them with brass.
*You shall create poles for the altar, made from acacia wood, and cover them with bronze.
7 And the staves shall be put into the rings, and the staves shall be upon the two sides of the altar, to bear it.
*The poles will go into the rings and will be on both sides of the altar to support it.
8 Hollow with boards shalt thou make it: as it was shewed thee in the mount, so shall they make it.
*Make it hollow with wood panels, just like you were shown on the mountain; that's how they should make it too.
9 And thou shalt make the court of the tabernacle: for the south side southward there shall be hangings for the court of fine twined linen of an hundred cubits long for one side:
*And you should build the tabernacle's courtyard: on the southern side, there will be curtains for the courtyard made of fine woven linen that is 100 cubits long for one side.
10 And the twenty pillars thereof and their twenty sockets shall be of brass; the hooks of the pillars and their fillets shall be of silver.
*The 20 columns and their 20 bases will be made of bronze. The hooks on the columns and their decorative borders will be made of silver.
11 And likewise for the north side in length there shall be hangings of an hundred cubits long, and his twenty pillars and their twenty sockets of brass; the hooks of the pillars and their fillets of silver.
*On the north side, the hanging will be 100 cubits long. There will be 20 pillars with 20 brass sockets. The pillar hooks and their silver bands are also part of it.
12 And for the breadth of the court on the west side shall be hangings of fifty cubits: their pillars ten, and their sockets ten.
*The width of the court's west side will have curtains that are 50 units long. There will be 10 posts and 10 base supports for these curtains.
13 And the breadth of the court on the east side eastward shall be fifty cubits.
*The width of the courtyard facing east will be 50 units of length.
14 The hangings of one side of the gate shall be fifteen cubits: their pillars three, and their sockets three.
*The curtains on one side of the gate will be 15 units long: there will be 3 posts and 3 supports.
15 And on the other side shall be hangings fifteen cubits: their pillars three, and their sockets three.
*On the opposite side, there will be curtains that are 15 units long. There will be three pillars and three support bases.
16 And for the gate of the court shall be an hanging of twenty cubits, of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen, wrought with needlework: and their pillars shall be four, and their sockets four.
*The gate's entrance will have a curtain that is 20 units long, made from blue, purple, scarlet, and fine linen threads, decorated with embroidery. There will be four pillars with four socket supports.
17 All the pillars round about the court shall be filleted with silver; their hooks shall be of silver, and their sockets of brass.
*All the supporting columns around the courtyard must have silver decorations; their hooks will also be made of silver, and their base supports will be made of bronze.
18 The length of the court shall be an hundred cubits, and the breadth fifty every where, and the height five cubits of fine twined linen, and their sockets of brass.
*The court should be 100 cubits long and 50 cubits wide everywhere, with a height of 5 cubits made from fine woven linen. The sockets supporting it will be made of brass.
19 All the vessels of the tabernacle in all the service thereof, and all the pins thereof, and all the pins of the court, shall be of brass.
*All the objects in the tabernacle, used for its services, along with their pins, and the court's pins, must be made from brass.
20 And thou shalt command the children of Israel, that they bring thee pure oil olive beaten for the light, to cause the lamp to burn always.
*Tell the people of Israel to bring you pure olive oil that has been pressed for lighting, so the lamp can keep burning all the time.
21 In the tabernacle of the congregation without the vail, which is before the testimony, Aaron and his sons shall order it from evening to morning before the LORD: it shall be a statute for ever unto their generations on the behalf of the children of Israel.
*In the tent where the people gather, behind a curtain, Aaron and his sons will take care of things from evening to morning for the Lord. This will always be a rule for them and their descendants, for the benefit of the Israeli people.
