Acts 9

And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest,

Saul, still wanting to harm the Lord's followers, visited the high priest.

And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem.

He asked for letters to Damascus's synagogues to search for anyone following this teaching, male or female, and bring them tied up to Jerusalem.

And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven:

As he traveled, he approached Damascus city; then, out of nowhere, a bright light from the sky surrounded him.

And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?

He fell down and heard a voice asking, "Saul, Saul, why are you bothering me?"

And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.

He asked, "Who are you, Lord?" And the Lord replied, "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting." It's difficult for you to fight against the guidance I provide.

And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.

He was scared and amazed, asking, "Lord, what do you want me to do?" The Lord replied, "Get up, go into the city, and they will tell you what to do."

And the men which journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man.

The men traveling with him were silent after hearing a voice, but they didn't see any person.

And Saul arose from the earth; and when his eyes were opened, he saw no man: but they led him by the hand, and brought him into Damascus.

Saul got up from the ground. When his eyes opened, he didn't see anyone. They guided him by holding his hand and took him to a place called Damascus.

And he was three days without sight, and neither did eat nor drink.

He couldn't see for three days and didn't eat or drink anything.

And there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; and to him said the Lord in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Behold, I am here, Lord.

There was a disciple in Damascus named Ananias. The Lord spoke to him in a vision, "Ananias." Ananias replied, "I'm right here, Lord."

And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and enquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus: for, behold, he prayeth,

And God told him, "Go to a place called Straight Street and ask at Judas's house for a man named Saul from Tarsus. He is praying there."

And hath seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in, and putting his hand on him, that he might receive his sight.

In a vision, a person saw Ananias entering and touching the man to help him see again.

Then Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem:

Then Ananias replied, Lord, I've heard from many people about this man that he has done a lot of harm to your followers in Jerusalem.

And here he hath authority from the chief priests to bind all that call on thy name.

He has permission from the top priests to tie up anyone who calls on your name.

But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:

But God told him, "Go ahead; I have chosen him to represent me among non-Jews, kings, and the people of Israel.

For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name’s sake.

For I will show him the big troubles he needs to go through because of my name.

And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost.

Ananias went to the house and<|im_start|>Y placed his hands on Saul, saying, "Brother Saul, Jesus, who appeared to you while you were coming here, has sent me so you can see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit."

And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized.

Immediately, scales fell from his eyes, and he could see again. He got up and was baptized.

And when he had received meat, he was strengthened. Then was Saul certain days with the disciples which were at Damascus.

After eating, Saul gained strength. He spent time with the followers in Damascus for some days.

And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.

Immediately, he shared in the synagogues that Jesus is the Son of God.

But all that heard him were amazed, and said; Is not this he that destroyed them which called on this name in Jerusalem, and came hither for that intent, that he might bring them bound unto the chief priests?

But everyone who heard him was surprised and asked, "Isn't this the person who hurt those who prayed to that name in Jerusalem? He came here to capture them and take them to the top priests?"

But Saul increased the more in strength, and confounded the Jews which dwelt at Damascus, proving that this is very Christ.

But Saul grew stronger and caused trouble for the Jewish people living in Damascus, showing that he was indeed the Messiah.

And after that many days were fulfilled, the Jews took counsel to kill him:

After some time passed, the Jews planned to kill him.

But their laying await was known of Saul. And they watched the gates day and night to kill him.

But Saul knew about their plan to ambush him. So, they kept watching the gates all day and night, planning to kill him.

Then the disciples took him by night, and let him down by the wall in a basket.

Then, at night, the disciples lowered Jesus in a basket over the wall.

And when Saul was come to Jerusalem, he assayed to join himself to the disciples: but they were all afraid of him, and believed not that he was a disciple.

When Saul arrived in Jerusalem, he tried to connect with the followers, but they were scared of him and didn't think he was one of them.

But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and declared unto them how he had seen the Lord in the way, and that he had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus.

But Barnabas brought Saul to the apostles and told them about his experiences with the Lord, how he talked to Him, and how he bravely spread Jesus' message in Damascus.

And he was with them coming in and going out at Jerusalem.

He was there with them when entering and leaving Jerusalem.

And he spake boldly in the name of the Lord Jesus, and disputed against the Grecians: but they went about to slay him.

He bravely spoke for Jesus and argued with the Greeks, but they tried to kill him.

Which when the brethren knew, they brought him down to Caesarea, and sent him forth to Tarsus.

When the brothers learned about it, they took him to Caesarea and then sent him to Tarsus.

Then had the churches rest throughout all Judaea and Galilee and Samaria, and were edified; and walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Ghost, were multiplied.

Then, the churches in Judaea, Galilee, and Samaria rested and grew stronger. They followed the Lord's teachings and were guided by the Holy Spirit, which caused them to grow in number.

And it came to pass, as Peter passed throughout all quarters, he came down also to the saints which dwelt at Lydda.

One day, when Peter was traveling everywhere, he visited the believers living in a place called Lydda too.

And there he found a certain man named Aeneas, which had kept his bed eight years, and was sick of the palsy.

He met a man named Aeneas who had been in bed for eight years due to a condition called palsy.

And Peter said unto him, Aeneas, Jesus Christ maketh thee whole: arise, and make thy bed. And he arose immediately.

Peter told Aeneas, "Jesus Christ will heal you. Stand up and get your bed ready." And Aeneas got up right away.

And all that dwelt at Lydda and Saron saw him, and turned to the Lord.

All the people living in Lydda and Saron saw him, and they turned to follow the Lord.

Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did.

At Joppa, there was a follower named Tabitha, also known as Dorcas. She was always doing kind things and helping others.

And it came to pass in those days, that she was sick, and died: whom when they had washed, they laid her in an upper chamber.

In those days, she became ill and passed away. After washing her, they placed her in an upstairs room.

And forasmuch as Lydda was nigh to Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent unto him two men, desiring him that he would not delay to come to them.

Since Lydda was close to Joppa, and the followers knew that Peter was there, they sent two people to ask him not to wait and come to them.

Then Peter arose and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him weeping, and shewing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them.

Then Peter got up and went with them. When he arrived, they took him to an upstairs room. All the widows were there, crying and showing the clothes and garments that Dorcas had made when she was with them.

But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up.

But Peter sent everyone away, knelt down, and prayed. Then he turned to the body and said, "Tabitha, get up." She opened her eyes and, seeing Peter, sat up.

And he gave her his hand, and lifted her up, and when he had called the saints and widows, presented her alive.

He held her hand, raised her up, then brought her to the holy people, showing she was still alive.

And it was known throughout all Joppa; and many believed in the Lord.

Everyone in Joppa found out, and lots of people started believing in the Lord.

And it came to pass, that he tarried many days in Joppa with one Simon a tanner.

Then, he stayed for a long time in the city of Joppa with a tanner named Simon.
