2 Kings 9:12
And they said, It is false; tell us now. And he said, Thus and thus spake he to me, saying, Thus saith the LORD, I have anointed thee king over Israel.
Simple English
They asked if it was true and demanded more information. He replied by saying that the Lord told him, "I have chosen you to be the king of Israel."
