KJV: And when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the seed royal.

Geneva: Then Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah when she saw that her sonne was dead, she arose, & destroyed all the Kings seede.

KJV: But Jehosheba, the daughter of king Joram, sister of Ahaziah, took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him from among the king’s sons which were slain; and they hid him, even him and his nurse, in the bedchamber from Athaliah, so that he was not slain.

Geneva: But Iehosheba the daughter of King Ioram, & sister to Ahaziah tooke Ioash the sonne of Ahaziah, and stale him from among the Kings sonnes that shoulde be slaine, both him and his nource, keeping them in the bed chaber, & they hid him from Athaliah, so that he was not slaine.

KJV: And he was with her hid in the house of the LORD six years. And Athaliah did reign over the land.

Geneva: And he was with her hid in the house of the Lord sixe yeere: and Athaliah did reigne ouer the land.

KJV: And the seventh year Jehoiada sent and fetched the rulers over hundreds, with the captains and the guard, and brought them to him into the house of the LORD, and made a covenant with them, and took an oath of them in the house of the LORD, and shewed them the king’s son.

Geneva: And the seuenth yeere Iehoiada sent & tooke the captaines ouer hundreths, with other captaines and them of the garde, & caused them to come vnto him into the house of the Lord, & made a couenant with them, and tooke an othe of them in the house of the Lorde, and shewed them the Kings sonne.

KJV: And he commanded them, saying, This is the thing that ye shall do; A third part of you that enter in on the sabbath shall even be keepers of the watch of the king’s house;

Geneva: And he commanded them, saying, This is it that ye must doe, The third part of you, that commeth on the Sabbath, shall warde towarde the Kings house:

KJV: And a third part shall be at the gate of Sur; and a third part at the gate behind the guard: so shall ye keep the watch of the house, that it be not broken down.

Geneva: And another third part in the gate of Sur: and another thirde part in the gate behinde them of the garde: and ye shall keepe watche in the house of Massah.

KJV: And two parts of all you that go forth on the sabbath, even they shall keep the watch of the house of the LORD about the king.

Geneva: And two parts of you, that is, all that goe out on the Sabbath day, shal keepe the watch of the house of the Lord about the King.

KJV: And ye shall compass the king round about, every man with his weapons in his hand: and he that cometh within the ranges, let him be slain: and be ye with the king as he goeth out and as he cometh in.

Geneva: And ye shal compasse the King rounde about, euery man with his weapon in his hande, and whosoeuer commeth within the ranges, let him be slayne: be you with the King, as he goeth out and in.

KJV: And the captains over the hundreds did according to all things that Jehoiada the priest commanded: and they took every man his men that were to come in on the sabbath, with them that should go out on the sabbath, and came to Jehoiada the priest.

Geneva: And the captaines of the hundreths did according to all that Iehoiada the Priest commaded, and they tooke euery man his men that entred in to their charge on the Sabbath with them that went out of it on the Sabbath, and came to Iehoiada the Priest.

KJV: And to the captains over hundreds did the priest give king David’s spears and shields, that were in the temple of the LORD.

Geneva: And the Priest gaue to the captaines of hundreths the speares and the shieldes that were King Dauids, & were in the house of the Lord.

KJV: And the guard stood, every man with his weapons in his hand, round about the king, from the right corner of the temple to the left corner of the temple, along by the altar and the temple.

Geneva: And the garde stoode, euery man with his weapon in his hande, from the right side of the house to the left side, about the altar and about the house, round about the King.

KJV: And he brought forth the king’s son, and put the crown upon him, and gave him the testimony; and they made him king, and anointed him; and they clapped their hands, and said, God save the king.

Geneva: Then he brought out the Kings sonne, & put the crowne vpon him and gaue him the Testimonie, and they made him King: also they anoynted him, and clapt their handes, and sayde, God saue the King.

KJV: And when Athaliah heard the noise of the guard and of the people, she came to the people into the temple of the LORD.

Geneva: And when Athaliah heard the noyse of the running of the people, shee came in to the people in the house of the Lord.

KJV: And when she looked, behold, the king stood by a pillar, as the manner was, and the princes and the trumpeters by the king, and all the people of the land rejoiced, and blew with trumpets: and Athaliah rent her clothes, and cried, Treason, Treason.

Geneva: And when shee looked, beholde, the King stoode by a pillar, as the maner was, & the princes & the trumpetters by the King, & al the people of the land reioyced, and blew with trumpets. Then Athaliah rent her clothes, and cryed, Treason, treason.

KJV: But Jehoiada the priest commanded the captains of the hundreds, the officers of the host, and said unto them, Have her forth without the ranges: and him that followeth her kill with the sword. For the priest had said, Let her not be slain in the house of the LORD.

Geneva: But Iehoiada the Priest commaunded the captaines of the hundreths that had the rule of the hoste, & sayde vnto them, Haue her forth of the ranges, & he that followeth her, let him die by the sworde: for the Priest had sayd, Let her not be slaine in the house of the Lord.

KJV: And they laid hands on her; and she went by the way by the which the horses came into the king’s house: and there was she slain.

Geneva: Then they laid hands on her, and she went by the way, by the which the horses goe to the house of the King, and there was she slaine.

KJV: And Jehoiada made a covenant between the LORD and the king and the people, that they should be the LORD’s people; between the king also and the people.

Geneva: And Iehoiada made a couenant betweene the Lord, and the King & the people, that they should be the Lordes people: likewise betweene the King and the people.

KJV: And all the people of the land went into the house of Baal, and brake it down; his altars and his images brake they in pieces thoroughly, and slew Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars. And the priest appointed officers over the house of the LORD.

Geneva: Then all the people of the lande went into the house of Baal, and destroyed it with his altars, and his images brake they downe courageously, and slewe Mattan the Priest of Baal before the altars: and the Priest set a garde ouer the house of the Lord.

KJV: And he took the rulers over hundreds, and the captains, and the guard, and all the people of the land; and they brought down the king from the house of the LORD, and came by the way of the gate of the guard to the king’s house. And he sat on the throne of the kings.

Geneva: Then he tooke the captaines of hudreths, and the other captaines, and the garde, and all the people of the lande: and they brought the King from the house of the Lord, and came by the way of the gate of the garde to the Kings house: and he sate him downe on the throne of the Kings.

KJV: And all the people of the land rejoiced, and the city was in quiet: and they slew Athaliah with the sword beside the king’s house.

Geneva: And all the people of the land reioyced, & the citie was in quiet: for they had slaine Athaliah with the sworde beside the Kings house.

KJV: Seven years old was Jehoash when he began to reign.

Geneva: Seuen yeere olde was Iehoash when he began to reigne.
