Tells about Samuel, the last judge, and the beginning of Israel's monarchy with King Saul and young David.

Chapter 13

KJV - 1 Samuel 13:2

Saul chose him three thousand men of Israel; whereof two thousand were with Saul in Michmash and in mount Bethel, and a thousand were with Jonathan in Gibeah of Benjamin: and the rest of the people he sent every man to his tent.

Saul picked 3,000 men from Israel. 2,000 stayed with Saul at Michmash and Mount Bethel, while 1,000 were with Jonathan in Gibeah, leaving the remaining people to return to their tents.
