Chapter 2

KJV: Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.

Geneva: Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoeuer thou art that condemnest: for in that that thou condemnest another, thou condemnest thy selfe: for thou that condemnest, doest the same things.

KJV: But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things.

Geneva: But we know that the iudgement of God is according to trueth, against them which comit such things.

KJV: And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?

Geneva: And thinkest thou this, O thou man, that condemnest them which doe such thinges, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the iudgement of God?

KJV: Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?

Geneva: Or despisest thou the riches of his bountifulnesse, and patience, and long sufferance, not knowing that the bountifulnesse of God leadeth thee to repentance?

KJV: But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;

Geneva: But thou, after thine hardnesse, and heart that canot repent, heapest vp as a treasure vnto thy selfe wrath against the day of wrath, and of the declaration of the iust iudgement of God,

KJV: Who will render to every man according to his deeds:

Geneva: Who wil reward euery man according to his woorkes:

KJV: To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:

Geneva: That is, to them which through patience in well doing, seeke glorie, and honour, and immortalitie, euerlasting life:

KJV: But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,

Geneva: But vnto them that are contentious and disobey the trueth, and obey vnrighteousnesse, shalbe indignation and wrath.

KJV: Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;

Geneva: Tribulation and anguish shalbe vpon the soule of euery man that doeth euill: of the Iewe first, and also of the Grecian.

KJV: But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:

Geneva: But to euery man that doeth good, shalbe glory, and honour, and peace: to the Iew first, and also to the Grecian.

KJV: For there is no respect of persons with God.

Geneva: For there is no respect of persons with God.

KJV: For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;

Geneva: For as many as haue sinned without the Lawe, shall perish also without the Lawe: and as many as haue sinned in the Lawe, shall be iudged by the Lawe,

KJV: (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.

Geneva: (For the hearers of the Lawe are not righteous before God: but the doers of the Lawe shalbe iustified.

KJV: For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:

Geneva: For when the Gentiles which haue not the Lawe, doe by nature, the things conteined in the Lawe, they hauing not the Lawe, are a Lawe vnto themselues,

KJV: Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)

Geneva: Which shew the effect of the Lawe written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witnes, and their thoughts accusing one another, or excusing,)

KJV: In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.

Geneva: At the day when God shall iudge the secretes of men by Iesus Christ, according to my Gospel.

KJV: Behold, thou art called a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest thy boast of God,

Geneva: Beholde, thou art called a Iewe, and restest in the Lawe, and gloriest in God,

KJV: And knowest his will, and approvest the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law;

Geneva: And knowest his will, and triest the things that dissent from it, in that thou art instructed by the Lawe:

KJV: And art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them which are in darkness,

Geneva: And persuadest thy selfe that thou art a guide of the blinde, a light of them which are in darkenesse,

KJV: An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, which hast the form of knowledge and of the truth in the law.

Geneva: An instructer of them which lacke discretion, a teacher of the vnlearned, which hast the forme of knowledge, & of the truth in ye Law.

KJV: Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal?

Geneva: Thou therefore, which teachest another, teachest thou not thy selfe? thou that preachest, A man should not steale, doest thou steale?

KJV: Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege?

Geneva: Thou that saist, A man should not commit adulterie, doest thou commit adulterie? thou that abhorrest idoles, committest thou sacrilege?

KJV: Thou that makest thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonourest thou God?

Geneva: Thou that gloriest in the Lawe, through breaking the Lawe, dishonourest thou God?

KJV: For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written.

Geneva: For ye Name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written.

KJV: For circumcision verily profiteth, if thou keep the law: but if thou be a breaker of the law, thy circumcision is made uncircumcision.

Geneva: For circucision verely is profitable, if thou do the Lawe: but if thou be a transgressour of the Lawe, thy circumcision is made vncircumcision.

KJV: Therefore if the uncircumcision keep the righteousness of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be counted for circumcision?

Geneva: Therefore if the vncircumcision keepe the ordinances of the Lawe, shall not his vncircumcision be counted for circumcision?

KJV: And shall not uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfil the law, judge thee, who by the letter and circumcision dost transgress the law?

Geneva: And shall not vncircumcision which is by nature (if it keepe the Lawe) condemne thee which by the letter and circumcision art a transgressour of the Lawe?

KJV: For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:

Geneva: For hee is not a Iewe, which is one outwarde: neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:

KJV: But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

Geneva: But he is a Iewe which is one wtin, and the circumcision is of the heart, in the spirite not in the letter, whose praise is not of men, but of God.
