With whom the LORD had made a covenant, and charged them, saying, Ye shall not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them:
The LORD made a promise with these people and told them not to be afraid of other gods, not to worship them, not to serve them, and not to offer sacrifices to them.
