1 Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed.

*Let those who serve others show their masters great respect. This way, God's name and teachings are not disrespected.

2 And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort.

*If you have a boss who believes in God, don't look down on them just because they are your brother or sister. Instead, respect them because they are trustworthy and loved, and they share in the same blessings. Encourage and remind them of this.

3 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;

*If someone teaches differently and doesn't agree with good teachings, the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the way that leads to being religious.

4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,

*He's arrogant, ignorant, and obsessed with arguing over trivial matters, which leads to jealousy, conflict, insults, and negative assumptions.

5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.

*Avoid arguments with people who have warped thoughts and don't understand the truth, thinking money is righteousness.

6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.

*But being good and happy with what you have is a big advantage.

7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.

*We didn't bring anything when we were born, and we know we can't take anything with us when we leave.

8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.

*And with food and clothes, let's be satisfied.

9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.

*But those who want to be wealthy often get trapped by temptations and bad desires, causing them to sink in harm and failure.

10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

*Money love causes all bad things: those who want it too much go wrong in their beliefs and cause themselves a lot of pain.

11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

*But you, as a godly person, avoid these actions; instead, pursue goodness, religious devotion, trust, affection, endurance, and gentle behavior.

12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

*Fight for your beliefs, grasp everlasting life, which you're called to and have declared publicly.

13 I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;

*I charge you in front of God, who gives life to everything, and in front of Christ Jesus, who made a good confession in front of Pontius Pilate.

14 That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:

*So that you follow this rule perfectly, without any mistakes, until our Lord Jesus returns.

15 Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;

*In his own time, the one who is truly powerful and blessed will reveal himself as the ruler over all other kings and the master of all lords.

16 Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.

*The one who has eternal life lives in unapproachable light. No person has or can see this being. Honor and endless power belong to this being. Amen.

17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;

*Tell the wealthy people to not be proud or rely on unstable wealth. Instead, they should trust in the living God, who generously provides everything for us to enjoy.

18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;

*So they can do good and have many acts of kindness, always ready to give and happy to share with others.

19 Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.

*Saving a strong base for themselves for later, so they can grasp everlasting life.

20 O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:

*Dear Timothy, be careful with what you've been entrusted with, stay away from empty talks and fake science arguments.

21 Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.

*Some people who say they believe have gone wrong about what faith means. May grace be with you. Yes, indeed.
