Chapter 14

KJV: O Israel, return unto the LORD thy God; for thou hast fallen by thine iniquity.

Geneva: (14:2) O Israel, returne vnto the Lord thy God: for thou hast fallen by thine iniquitie.

KJV: Take with you words, and turn to the LORD: say unto him, Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously: so will we render the calves of our lips.

Geneva: (14:3) Take vnto you words, & turne to the Lord, and say vnto him, Take away all iniquitie, and receiue vs graciously: so wil we render the calues of our lippes.

KJV: Asshur shall not save us; we will not ride upon horses: neither will we say any more to the work of our hands, Ye are our gods: for in thee the fatherless findeth mercy.

Geneva: (14:4) Asshur shal not saue vs, neither wil we ride vpon horses, neither will we say any more to the worke of our handes, Ye are our gods: for in thee the fatherlesse findeth mercie.

KJV: I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely: for mine anger is turned away from him.

Geneva: (14:5) I wil heale their rebellion: I wil loue them freely: for mine anger is turned away from him.

KJV: I will be as the dew unto Israel: he shall grow as the lily, and cast forth his roots as Lebanon.

Geneva: (14:6) I will be as the dewe vnto Israel: he shall grow as the lilie and fasten his rootes, as the trees of Lebanon.

KJV: His branches shall spread, and his beauty shall be as the olive tree, and his smell as Lebanon.

Geneva: (14:7) His branches shall spread, and his beautie shalbe as the oliue tree, and his smel as Lebanon.

KJV: They that dwell under his shadow shall return; they shall revive as the corn, and grow as the vine: the scent thereof shall be as the wine of Lebanon.

Geneva: (14:8) They that dwel vnder his shadow, shal returne: they shall reuiue as the corne, and florish as the vine: the sent thereof shalbe as the wine of Lebanon.

KJV: Ephraim shall say, What have I to do any more with idols? I have heard him, and observed him: I am like a green fir tree. From me is thy fruit found.

Geneva: (14:9) Ephraim shal say, What haue I to doe any more with idoles? I haue heard him, and looked vpon him: I am like a greene firre tree: vpon me is thy fruite founde.

KJV: Who is wise, and he shall understand these things? prudent, and he shall know them? for the ways of the LORD are right, and the just shall walk in them: but the transgressors shall fall therein.

Geneva: (14:10) Who is wise, and he shall vnderstande these things? and prudent, and he shall knowe them? for the wayes of the Lorde are righteous, and the iust shall walke in them: but the wicked shal fall therein.
