KJV:
Ephraim feedeth on wind, and followeth after the east wind: he daily increaseth lies and desolation; and they do make a covenant with the Assyrians, and oil is carried into Egypt.
Geneva:
Ephraim is fed with the winde, and followeth after the East winde: hee increaseth daily lies and destruction, & they do make a couenant with Asshur, and oyle is caried into Egypt.

The LORD hath also a controversy with Judah, and will punish Jacob according to his ways; according to his doings will he recompense him.
Geneva:
The Lorde hath also a controuersie with Iudah, and will visite Iaakob, according to his waies: according to his workes, wil he recompence him.

He took his brother by the heel in the womb, and by his strength he had power with God:
Geneva:
Hee tooke his brother by the heele in the wombe, and by his strength he had power with God,

Yea, he had power over the angel, and prevailed: he wept, and made supplication unto him: he found him in Bethel, and there he spake with us;
Geneva:
And had power ouer the Angel, and preuailed: he wept and praied vnto him: he founde him in Beth-el, and there he spake with vs.

Even the LORD God of hosts; the LORD is his memorial.
Geneva:
Yea, the Lorde God of hostes, the Lorde is himselfe his memoriall.

Therefore turn thou to thy God: keep mercy and judgment, and wait on thy God continually.
Geneva:
Therefore turne thou to thy God: keepe mercy and iudgement, and hope still in thy God.

KJV:
He is a merchant, the balances of deceit are in his hand: he loveth to oppress.
Geneva:
He is Canaan: the balances of deceit are in his hand: he loueth to oppresse.

KJV:
And Ephraim said, Yet I am become rich, I have found me out substance: in all my labours they shall find none iniquity in me that were sin.
Geneva:
And Ephraim saide, Notwithstanding I am rich, I haue found me out riches in all my labours: they shall finde none iniquitie in me, that were wickednesse.

And I that am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt will yet make thee to dwell in tabernacles, as in the days of the solemn feast.
Geneva:
Though I am the Lorde thy God, from the land of Egypt, yet will I make thee to dwel in the tabernacles, as in the daies of the solemne feast.

I have also spoken by the prophets, and I have multiplied visions, and used similitudes, by the ministry of the prophets.
Geneva:
I haue also spoken by the Prophets, and I haue multiplied visions, and vsed similitudes by the ministerie of the Prophets.

Is there iniquity in Gilead? surely they are vanity: they sacrifice bullocks in Gilgal; yea, their altars are as heaps in the furrows of the fields.
Geneva:
Is there iniquitie in Gilead? surely they are vanitie: they sacrifice bullocks in Gilgal, and their altars are as heapes in the furrowes of the field.

And Jacob fled into the country of Syria, and Israel served for a wife, and for a wife he kept sheep.
Geneva:
And Iaakob fled into the countrey of Aram, and Israel serued for a wife, and for a wife he kept sheepe.

And by a prophet the LORD brought Israel out of Egypt, and by a prophet was he preserved.
Geneva:
And by a Prophet the Lord brought Israel out of Egypt, & by a Prophet was he reserued.

KJV:
Ephraim provoked him to anger most bitterly: therefore shall he leave his blood upon him, and his reproach shall his LORD return unto him.
Geneva:
But Ephraim prouoked him with hie places: therefore shal his blood be powred vpon him, and his reproche shall his Lord reward him.
