2 Corinthians 1:9
But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead:
Simple English
But we had a death sentence within us, so we couldn't rely on ourselves, but needed to trust in God, who can bring people back to life.
