Chapter 27

1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When a man shall make a singular vow, the persons shall be for the LORD by thy estimation.

*Tell the people of Israel: When someone makes a special promise, determine the value based on the LORD's importance.

3 And thy estimation shall be of the male from twenty years old even unto sixty years old, even thy estimation shall be fifty shekels of silver, after the shekel of the sanctuary.

*Your value for a man between ages 20 and 60 will be fifty silver shekels, based on the sanctuary's shekel.

4 And if it be a female, then thy estimation shall be thirty shekels.

*If it's a girl, then you should value her at thirty shekels.

5 And if it be from five years old even unto twenty years old, then thy estimation shall be of the male twenty shekels, and for the female ten shekels.

*If it's between 5 to 20 years old, for a boy, it's worth 20 shekels and for a girl, it's worth 10 shekels.

6 And if it be from a month old even unto five years old, then thy estimation shall be of the male five shekels of silver, and for the female thy estimation shall be three shekels of silver.

*If it's one month to five years old, for a boy you pay 5 silver coins and for a girl, you pay 3 silver coins.

7 And if it be from sixty years old and above; if it be a male, then thy estimation shall be fifteen shekels, and for the female ten shekels.

*If it's 60 or older, for males, it's worth 15 shekels and for females, 10 shekels.

8 But if he be poorer than thy estimation, then he shall present himself before the priest, and the priest shall value him; according to his ability that vowed shall the priest value him.

*But if he is not as rich as you think, he must go to the priest. The priest will then determine his worth based on what he can actually afford to give.

9 And if it be a beast, whereof men bring an offering unto the LORD, all that any man giveth of such unto the LORD shall be holy.

*If it's an animal for an offering, whatever people give to the LORD from it is considered holy.

10 He shall not alter it, nor change it, a good for a bad, or a bad for a good: and if he shall at all change beast for beast, then it and the exchange thereof shall be holy.

*He must not switch a good for a bad or a bad for a good. If he exchanges one animal for another, the exchange will be holy.

11 And if it be any unclean beast, of which they do not offer a sacrifice unto the LORD, then he shall present the beast before the priest:

*If it's an unclean animal and they don't sacrifice it to God, the person must show the animal to the priest.

12 And the priest shall value it, whether it be good or bad: as thou valuest it, who art the priest, so shall it be.

*The priest will judge its worth, good or bad: as you value it, being the priest, that's how it will be judged.

13 But if he will at all redeem it, then he shall add a fifth part thereof unto thy estimation.

*But if he wants to buy it back, then he must increase its value by 20%.

14 And when a man shall sanctify his house to be holy unto the LORD, then the priest shall estimate it, whether it be good or bad: as the priest shall estimate it, so shall it stand.

*When a person makes their home sacred for God, the priest will evaluate if it's good or bad. The evaluation will decide its status.

15 And if he that sanctified it will redeem his house, then he shall add the fifth part of the money of thy estimation unto it, and it shall be his.

*If the person who made it holy wants to buy it back, they must add one-fifth of the value you set to the price, and it will belong to them.

16 And if a man shall sanctify unto the LORD some part of a field of his possession, then thy estimation shall be according to the seed thereof: an homer of barley seed shall be valued at fifty shekels of silver.

*If a person dedicates a portion of their land to the Lord, the value will be based on the amount of seeds it produces. A homer of barley seeds is worth 50 shekels of silver.

17 If he sanctify his field from the year of jubile, according to thy estimation it shall stand.

*If he sets aside his land for the year of freedom, as you measure it, it will be considered valid.

18 But if he sanctify his field after the jubile, then the priest shall reckon unto him the money according to the years that remain, even unto the year of the jubile, and it shall be abated from thy estimation.

*But if he makes his land holy after the big 50-year celebration, the priest will count the money based on how many years are left until the next celebration. This amount will then be taken away from what you owe.

19 And if he that sanctified the field will in any wise redeem it, then he shall add the fifth part of the money of thy estimation unto it, and it shall be assured to him.

*If the person who made the field holy wants to buy it back, they must add one-fifth of the value you set to the price, and it will belong to them.

20 And if he will not redeem the field, or if he have sold the field to another man, it shall not be redeemed any more.

*If he doesn't buy back the land or sells it to someone else, then it can't be bought back again.

21 But the field, when it goeth out in the jubile, shall be holy unto the LORD, as a field devoted; the possession thereof shall be the priest’s.

*But during the year of freedom, the land will be sacred to God, like a special land given to him. The priests will own it.

22 And if a man sanctify unto the LORD a field which he hath bought, which is not of the fields of his possession;

*If a person dedicates to the Lord a field they purchased, that isn't part of their other lands.

23 Then the priest shall reckon unto him the worth of thy estimation, even unto the year of the jubile: and he shall give thine estimation in that day, as a holy thing unto the LORD.

*Then the priest will count the value you think it is worth, based on the year of the special celebration called Jubilee. On that day, you must give the value as a sacred offering to God.

24 In the year of the jubile the field shall return unto him of whom it was bought, even to him to whom the possession of the land did belong.

*In the year of freedom, the field goes back to the person who bought it, to the one who owned the land before.

25 And all thy estimations shall be according to the shekel of the sanctuary: twenty gerahs shall be the shekel.

*And all your measurements will follow the sanctuary's shekel: a shekel is worth twenty gerahs.

26 Only the firstling of the beasts, which should be the LORD’s firstling, no man shall sanctify it; whether it be ox, or sheep: it is the LORD’s.

*Only the first animal born, which belongs to the LORD, cannot be set apart by people; whether it's a cow or a sheep, it belongs to the LORD.

27 And if it be of an unclean beast, then he shall redeem it according to thine estimation, and shall add a fifth part of it thereto: or if it be not redeemed, then it shall be sold according to thy estimation.

*If it's a dirty animal, the person must pay extra based on its worth, or if they don't pay, it gets sold for its worth.

28 Notwithstanding no devoted thing, that a man shall devote unto the LORD of all that he hath, both of man and beast, and of the field of his possession, shall be sold or redeemed: every devoted thing is most holy unto the LORD.

*Even though anything dedicated to the LORD by a person, including people, animals, and land, cannot be sold or redeemed back. Everything dedicated is very holy to the LORD.

29 None devoted, which shall be devoted of men, shall be redeemed; but shall surely be put to death.

*If a person is completely dedicated for destruction, they cannot be saved. Instead, they will definitely be killed.

30 And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD’s: it is holy unto the LORD.

*All the tenth part of the land's produce, like grain or tree fruits, belongs to God. It is sacred for Him.

31 And if a man will at all redeem ought of his tithes, he shall add thereto the fifth part thereof.

*If a person wants to redeem any of their tithes, they must add one-fifth more to it.

32 And concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even of whatsoever passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto the LORD.

*Regarding the tithe from the animals, whether from cows or sheep, give the tenth to God from whatever you count with a measuring stick.

33 He shall not search whether it be good or bad, neither shall he change it: and if he change it at all, then both it and the change thereof shall be holy; it shall not be redeemed.

*He won't look to see if it's good or bad and won't change it. If he does change it, both the original and the change will be sacred, and it can't be exchanged back.

34 These are the commandments, which the LORD commanded Moses for the children of Israel in mount Sinai.

*These are God's rules that He told Moses for Israel's kids on Mount Sinai.
