A prophet runs from God's call to preach to Nineveh but learns about mercy when the city repents.

Chapter 1

KJV - Jonah 1:8

Then said they unto him, Tell us, we pray thee, for whose cause this evil is upon us; What is thine occupation? and whence comest thou? what is thy country? and of what people art thou?

Then they asked him, "Please tell us why this bad thing happened to us. What do you do for a living? Where did you come from? Which country are you from? And what group of people do you belong to?"
