Esther 6

On that night could not the king sleep, and he commanded to bring the book of records of the chronicles; and they were read before the king.

That night, the king couldn't sleep, so he ordered to bring the record book of past events. They read it aloud to him.

And it was found written, that Mordecai had told of Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king’s chamberlains, the keepers of the door, who sought to lay hand on the king Ahasuerus.

It was discovered that Mordecai had revealed information about Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king's helpers guarding the entrance, who tried to attack King Ahasuerus.

And the king said, What honour and dignity hath been done to Mordecai for this? Then said the king’s servants that ministered unto him, There is nothing done for him.

The king asked what honor was given to Mordecai, and his servants replied that nothing had been done for him.

And the king said, Who is in the court? Now Haman was come into the outward court of the king’s house, to speak unto the king to hang Mordecai on the gallows that he had prepared for him.

The king asked, "Who's here in the courtyard?" At this time, Haman arrived at the outer part of the king's palace to ask the king to execute Mordecai using the gallows he had made for him.

And the king’s servants said unto him, Behold, Haman standeth in the court. And the king said, Let him come in.

The king's helpers told him, "Look, there's Haman standing in the courtyard." The king replied, "Let him come inside."

So Haman came in. And the king said unto him, What shall be done unto the man whom the king delighteth to honour? Now Haman thought in his heart, To whom would the king delight to do honour more than to myself?

So Haman entered the room. The king asked him, "What should we do for someone we want to honor greatly?" Haman thought to himself, "Who would the king want to honor more than me?"

And Haman answered the king, For the man whom the king delighteth to honour,

Haman replied to the king, The person the king likes to honor will be honored by him.

Let the royal apparel be brought which the king useth to wear, and the horse that the king rideth upon, and the crown royal which is set upon his head:

Bring the king's usual clothes, the horse he rides, and the royal crown he wears on his head.

And let this apparel and horse be delivered to the hand of one of the king’s most noble princes, that they may array the man withal whom the king delighteth to honour, and bring him on horseback through the street of the city, and proclaim before him, Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delighteth to honour.

Give this clothing and horse to one of the king's important princes. They will dress the person the king wants to honor and ride them on a horse through the city streets. The announcer will shout, "This is how we honor the person the king loves."

Then the king said to Haman, Make haste, and take the apparel and the horse, as thou hast said, and do even so to Mordecai the Jew, that sitteth at the king’s gate: let nothing fail of all that thou hast spoken.

Then the king told Haman, "Hurry up and follow through with what you've said about taking away Mordecai's clothes and horse. Do it exactly as you've described, and don't leave anything out."

Then took Haman the apparel and the horse, and arrayed Mordecai, and brought him on horseback through the street of the city, and proclaimed before him, Thus shall it be done unto the man whom the king delighteth to honour.

Then Haman gave Mordecai the clothes and the horse, dressed him up, and rode him through the city's streets on the horse. He announced, "This is what will happen to anyone the king wants to honor."

And Mordecai came again to the king’s gate. But Haman hasted to his house mourning, and having his head covered.

Mordecai returned to the king's entrance. Meanwhile, Haman rushed home, sad and with his head covered.

And Haman told Zeresh his wife and all his friends every thing that had befallen him. Then said his wise men and Zeresh his wife unto him, If Mordecai be of the seed of the Jews, before whom thou hast begun to fall, thou shalt not prevail against him, but shalt surely fall before him.

Haman shared everything that happened to him with his wife Zeresh and their friends. His wise men and Zeresh told him that if Mordecai is indeed Jewish, he won't be able to defeat Mordecai and will continue to fail in front of him.

And while they were yet talking with him, came the king’s chamberlains, and hasted to bring Haman unto the banquet that Esther had prepared.

While they were still talking, the king's helpers arrived and quickly brought Haman to the dinner Esther had arranged.
