KJV: Now these are the names of the children of Israel, which came into Egypt; every man and his household came with Jacob.

Geneva: Nowe these are the names of the children of Israel, which came into Egypt (euery man and his housholde came thither with Iaakob)

KJV: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah,

Geneva: Reuben, Simeon, Leui, and Iudah,

KJV: Issachar, Zebulun, and Benjamin,

Geneva: Issachar, Zebulun, and Beniamin,

KJV: Dan, and Naphtali, Gad, and Asher.

Geneva: Dan, and Naphtali, Gad, and Asher.

KJV: And all the souls that came out of the loins of Jacob were seventy souls: for Joseph was in Egypt already.

Geneva: So al the soules, that came out of the loines of Iaakob, were seuentie soules: Ioseph was in Egypt already.

KJV: And Joseph died, and all his brethren, and all that generation.

Geneva: Nowe Ioseph died and all his brethren, and that whole generation.

KJV: And the children of Israel were fruitful, and increased abundantly, and multiplied, and waxed exceeding mighty; and the land was filled with them.

Geneva: And the children of Israel brought foorth fruite and encreased in aboundance, and were multiplied, and were exceeding mightie, so that the land was full of them.

KJV: Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph.

Geneva: Then there rose vp a newe King in Egypt, who knewe not Ioseph.

KJV: And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we:

Geneva: And he sayde vnto his people, Beholde, the people of the children of Israel are greater and mightier then we.

KJV: Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land.

Geneva: Come, let vs worke wisely with them, least they multiplie, and it come to passe, that if there be warre, they ioyne them selues also vnto our enemies, and fight against vs, and get them out of the land.

KJV: Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses.

Geneva: Therefore did they set taskemasters ouer them, to keepe the vnder with burdens: and they built the cities Pithom and Raamses for the treasures of Pharaoh.

KJV: But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel.

Geneva: But the more they vexed them, the more they multiplied and grewe: therefore they were more grieued against the children of Israel.

KJV: And the Egyptians made the children of Israel to serve with rigour:

Geneva: Wherefore the Egyptians by crueltie caused the children of Israel to serue.

KJV: And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage, in morter, and in brick, and in all manner of service in the field: all their service, wherein they made them serve, was with rigour.

Geneva: Thus they made them weary of their liues by sore labour in clay & in bricke, & in al worke in the fielde, with all maner of bondage, which they layde vpon them most cruelly.

KJV: And the king of Egypt spake to the Hebrew midwives, of which the name of the one was Shiphrah, and the name of the other Puah:

Geneva: Moreouer the King of Egypt commanded ye midwiues of the Ebrewe women, (of which the ones name was Shiphrah, and the name of the other Puah)

KJV: And he said, When ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the stools; if it be a son, then ye shall kill him: but if it be a daughter, then she shall live.

Geneva: And sayde, When ye doe the office of a midwife to the women of the Ebrewes, and see them on their stooles, if it be a sonne, then yee shall kill him: but if it be a daughter, then let her liue.

KJV: But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive.

Geneva: Notwithstanding ye midwiues feared God, and did not as the King of Egypt commaunded them, but preserued aliue the men children.

KJV: And the king of Egypt called for the midwives, and said unto them, Why have ye done this thing, and have saved the men children alive?

Geneva: Then the King of Egypt called for the midwiues, and sayde vnto them, Why haue yee done thus, and haue preserued aliue the men children?

KJV: And the midwives said unto Pharaoh, Because the Hebrew women are not as the Egyptian women; for they are lively, and are delivered ere the midwives come in unto them.

Geneva: And the midwiues answered Pharaoh, Because the Ebrewe women are not as the women of Egypt: for they are liuely, and are deliuered yer the midwife come at them.

KJV: Therefore God dealt well with the midwives: and the people multiplied, and waxed very mighty.

Geneva: God therefore prospered the midwiues, and the people multiplied and were very mightie.

KJV: And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them houses.

Geneva: And because ye midwiues feared God, therefore he made them houses.

KJV: And Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, Every son that is born ye shall cast into the river, and every daughter ye shall save alive.

Geneva: Then Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, Euery man childe that is borne, cast yee into the riuer, but reserue euery maide childe aliue.
