Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus: and the Syrians became servants to David, and brought gifts. And the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.

Then, David set up outposts in a place called Damascus in Syria. The people there became helpers for David and gave him presents. Wherever David went, God protected him.
