Chapter 12

KJV: Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.

Geneva: Now concerning spirituall giftes, brethren, I would not haue you ignorant.

KJV: Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led.

Geneva: Ye know that ye were Gentiles, and were caried away vnto the dumme Idoles, as ye were led.

KJV: Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.

Geneva: Wherefore, I declare vnto you, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Iesus execrable: also no man can say that Iesus is the Lord, but by the holy Ghost.

KJV: Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.

Geneva: Now there are diuersities of gifts, but the same Spirit.

KJV: And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.

Geneva: And there are diuersities of administrations, but the same Lord,

KJV: And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.

Geneva: And there are diuersities of operations, but God is the same which worketh all in all.

KJV: But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.

Geneva: But the manifestation of the Spirit is giuen to euery man, to profite withall.

KJV: For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;

Geneva: For to one is giuen by the Spirit the word of wisdome: and to an other the word of knowledge, by the same Spirit:

KJV: To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;

Geneva: And to another is giuen faith by the same Spirit: and to another the giftes of healing, by the same Spirit:

KJV: To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:

Geneva: And to another the operations of great workes: and to another, prophecie: and to another, the discerning of spirits: and to another, diuersities of tongues: and to another, the interpretation of tongues.

KJV: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

Geneva: And all these thinges worketh one and the selfe same Spirit, distributing to euery man seuerally as he will.

KJV: For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.

Geneva: For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of the body, which is one, though they be many, yet are but one body: euen so is Christ.

KJV: For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

Geneva: For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we bee Iewes, or Grecians, whether we be bonde, or free, and haue bene all made to drinke into one Spirit.

KJV: For the body is not one member, but many.

Geneva: For the body also is not one member, but many.

KJV: If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?

Geneva: If the foote would say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body, is it therefore not of the body?

KJV: And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?

Geneva: And if the eare would say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body, is it therefore not of the body?

KJV: If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?

Geneva: If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?

KJV: But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.

Geneva: But nowe hath God disposed the members euery one of them in the bodie at his owne pleasure.

KJV: And if they were all one member, where were the body?

Geneva: For if they were all one member, where were the body?

KJV: But now are they many members, yet but one body.

Geneva: But now are there many members, yet but one body.

KJV: And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.

Geneva: And the eye cannot say vnto the hand, I haue no neede of thee: nor the head againe to the feete, I haue no neede of you.

KJV: Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary:

Geneva: Yea, much rather those members of the body, which seeme to be more feeble, are necessarie.

KJV: And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.

Geneva: And vpon those members of the body, which wee thinke most vnhonest, put wee more honestie on: and our vncomely parts haue more comelinesse on.

KJV: For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked:

Geneva: For our comely partes neede it not: but God hath tempered the body together, and hath giuen the more honour to that part which lacked,

KJV: That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.

Geneva: Lest there should be any diuision in the body: but that the members shoulde haue the same care one for another.

KJV: And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.

Geneva: Therefore if one member suffer, all suffer with it: if one member be had in honour, all the members reioyce with it.

KJV: Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.

Geneva: Now ye are the body of Christ, and members for your part.

KJV: And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.

Geneva: And God hath ordained some in the Church: as first Apostles, secondly Prophetes, thirdly teachers, then them that doe miracles: after that, the giftes of healing, helpers, gouernours, diuersitie of tongues.

KJV: Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?

Geneva: Are all Apostles? are all Prophetes? are all teachers?

KJV: Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?

Geneva: Are all doers of miracles? haue all the gifts of healing? doe all speake with tongues? doe all interprete?

KJV: But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.

Geneva: But desire you the best giftes, and I will yet shewe you a more excellent way.
