A one world government, also known as a world government or global government, is a hypothetical central political authority with jurisdiction over all of Earth and its inhabitants. The concept envisions a single, unified system of governance that would replace the current system of sovereign states. In Hebrew, this concept is referred to as ממשלה עולמית (Memshala Olamit). Similar terms in other languages include Weltregierung in German, gouvernement mondial in French, and gobierno mundial in Spanish. The idea of a one world government has been a subject of debate among political scientists, philosophers, and futurists, with proponents arguing that it could promote global peace, cooperation, and equitable resource distribution, while critics express concerns about the potential for tyranny, loss of cultural diversity, and the practical challenges of implementing such a system on a global scale. Historical attempts at forming international governing bodies, such as the League of Nations and the United Nations, have been seen by some as steps towards a more unified global governance structure.
