Psalm 374

Psalm 37:4 is a well-known verse from the Book of Psalms in the Hebrew Bible and the Old Testament of the Christian Bible. The verse reads: "Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart" (English Standard Version). In Hebrew, the verse is written as: "גַּם-בֶּטַח בַּיהוָה וְהַרְנֵה-אֹרֶץ; וְהִתְאַמֵּן בּוֹ וְיַרְבִּיצֶךָ" (Transliteration: Gam-betach baYHVH ve-harnei-oretz; ve-hitamein bo ve-yarbitzecha). This verse is part of a psalm attributed to King David, which offers wisdom and encouragement to those who trust in God. The context of Psalm 37 is a meditation on the contrast between the wicked and the righteous, urging the latter to remain steadfast in their faith and to avoid envy or frustration over the apparent prosperity of the wicked. The verse has been widely interpreted to mean that when one's delight and focus are on God, one's desires will align with God's will, leading to fulfillment and contentment. Translations of this verse in other languages include: "Trouve ton plaisir en Yahvé, et il te donnera ce que ton cœur désire" in French, "Trouve tu placer in de Heer, en Hij zal je de verlangens van je hart geven" in Dutch, and "Deléitate en Jehová, y él te concederá los deseos de tu corazón" in Spanish.
