Jibril, also known as Gabriel in English and Gavriel (גַּבְרִיאֵל) in Hebrew, is an archangel in Abrahamic religions, including Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. The name Jibril is derived from the Arabic language and is a transliteration of the Arabic name جِبْرِيل (Jibrīl), which is believed to be the Islamic equivalent of the Hebrew Gavriel. In Islamic tradition, Jibril is considered one of the most important angels and is often depicted as a messenger of Allah, responsible for delivering revelations to prophets, including Muhammad. In the Bible, Gabriel is known for announcing the birth of John the Baptist and Jesus to their mothers, Elizabeth and Mary, respectively. The name Gabriel means "God is my strength" in Hebrew, reflecting the angel's role as a divine messenger and protector.
