Paul's letter explaining salvation through faith in Jesus Christ and the importance of living a holy life.

Chapter 16

1 I commend unto you Phebe our sister, which is a servant of the church which is at Cenchrea:

*I recommend to you Phebe, our sister and church helper from the church in Cenchrea.

2 That ye receive her in the Lord, as becometh saints, and that ye assist her in whatsoever business she hath need of you: for she hath been a succourer of many, and of myself also.

*Receive her in the Lord's way, like how saints should act, and help her with anything she needs from you. She has helped lots of people, including me.

3 Greet Priscilla and Aquila my helpers in Christ Jesus:

*Greet Priscilla and Aquila, my assistants in Jesus' name.

4 Who have for my life laid down their own necks: unto whom not only I give thanks, but also all the churches of the Gentiles.

*I am grateful to those who risked their lives for me. Not just I, but all the non-Jewish churches are thankful too.

5 Likewise greet the church that is in their house. Salute my well-beloved Epaenetus, who is the firstfruits of Achaia unto Christ.

*Also, say hello to the church in their home. Give my dear friend Epaenetus a greeting, as he's the first one from Achaia to follow Christ.

6 Greet Mary, who bestowed much labour on us.

*Greet Mary, who worked hard for us.

7 Salute Andronicus and Junia, my kinsmen, and my fellow-prisoners, who are of note among the apostles, who also were in Christ before me.

*Greet Andronicus and Junia, my relatives, and fellow prisoners, who are well respected among the believers, and were followers of Christ before me.

8 Greet Amplias my beloved in the Lord.

*Say hello to Amplias, my dear friend in the Lord.

9 Salute Urbane, our helper in Christ, and Stachys my beloved.

*Greet Urbane, the one who helps us in Christ, and dear Stachys.

10 Salute Apelles approved in Christ. Salute them which are of Aristobulus’ household.

*Greet everyone who Apelles agrees with in Christ. Greet those who belong to Aristobulus' family.

11 Salute Herodion my kinsman. Greet them that be of the household of Narcissus, which are in the Lord.

*Greet Herodion, my relative. Say hello to Narcissus' family members who follow the Lord and live with him.

12 Salute Tryphena and Tryphosa, who labour in the Lord. Salute the beloved Persis, which laboured much in the Lord.

*Greet Tryphena and Tryphosa, who work hard for the Lord. Greet dear Persis, who has worked very hard for the Lord.

13 Salute Rufus chosen in the Lord, and his mother and mine.

*Greet Rufus, picked by God, and his mom and my mom too.

14 Salute Asyncritus, Phlegon, Hermas, Patrobas, Hermes, and the brethren which are with them.

*Greet Asyncritus, Phlegon, Hermas, Patrobas, Hermes, and their friends. In this verse, the writer is asking to greet these individuals and their companions. The names mentioned are Asyncritus, Phlegon, Hermas, Patrobas, Hermes, and the brethren (which refers to fellow believers or friends). By saying "greet," it means to offer a friendly salutation or hello.

15 Salute Philologus, and Julia, Nereus, and his sister, and Olympas, and all the saints which are with them.

*Greet Philologus and Julia, Nereus and his sister, Olympas, and all the saints with them.

16 Salute one another with an holy kiss. The churches of Christ salute you.

*Greet each other with a holy hug or kiss. The churches that follow Christ send their greetings to you.

17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.

*I ask you now, my friends, pay attention to those who create disagreements and problems going against the teachings you've learned, and stay away from them.

18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.

*Those who act like this don't truly serve Jesus Christ. Instead, they serve their own desires. They use nice words and lies to trick innocent people's hearts.

19 For your obedience is come abroad unto all men. I am glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil.

*Your obedience is known to everyone. I'm happy for you! But I want you to be wise about good things and innocent about bad ones.

20 And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

*God's peace will defeat Satan soon, leaving him under your control. May Jesus's love and grace be with you. Yes.

21 Timotheus my workfellow, and Lucius, and Jason, and Sosipater, my kinsmen, salute you.

*Timothy, my partner, and Lucius, and Jason, and Sosipater, my relatives, send their greetings to you.

22 I Tertius, who wrote this epistle, salute you in the Lord.

*I am Tertius, the one who wrote this letter. I greet you in the name of the Lord.

23 Gaius mine host, and of the whole church, saluteth you. Erastus the chamberlain of the city saluteth you, and Quartus a brother.

*Gaius, the leader of the church, sends his greetings to you. Erastus, who takes care of the city's affairs, also greets you, as does Quartus, who is a fellow believer.

24 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

*May the kindness of our Lord Jesus bless you all. Amen.

25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,

*Now to the one who has the ability to strengthen you based on my message and the teaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revealment of the hidden truth, which was concealed since the beginning of the world.

26 But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:

*Now it's clear, coming from the prophet's writings, following eternal God's order, shared with everyone for trusting obedience.

27 To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever. Amen.

*To the wise God, give glory through Jesus Christ forever. Yes.
