Chapter 14

1 And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father’s name written in their foreheads.

*I looked and saw a Lamb standing on a hill called Mount Zion, and with him were 144,000 people. They had God's name written on their foreheads.

2 And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps:

*I heard a voice from above like the sound of rushing water and loud thunder. Also, I heard musicians playing their harps.

3 And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth.

*They sang a new song in front of the throne, the four creatures, and the older people. No one else could learn this song except for the 144,000 who were saved from the world.

4 These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.

*These people remained pure and didn't have relationships with women because they stayed that way. They stick close to the Lamb (Jesus) wherever He goes. They were saved from all of humanity and are the first ones chosen by God and Jesus.

5 And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.

*In their mouth, there was no deceit. They were perfect in front of God's throne.

6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,

*I saw an angel flying in heaven with a message that lasts forever. He was going to share this message with everyone living on Earth, in all nations, groups, languages, and communities.

7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.

*"Shout out loudly, 'Fear God and honor him! The time for judging the world has arrived. Worship the one who created the heavens, the Earth, the seas, and all the sources of water.'"

8 And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.

*Another angel came, saying, "Babylon has fallen, fallen, the big city! This happened because she made all countries drink the wine of her anger and bad actions.

9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,

*The third angel came after them, shouting, "If anyone worships the beast and its picture, and gets its mark on their forehead or hand."

10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:

*Those who deserve it will drink God's angry wine, a pure mix in a cup of anger. They will be tortured with fire and sulfur, surrounded by holy angels and the Lamb.

11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.

*The smoke from their suffering rises forever; they have no rest at all, day or night, who worship the beast and its picture, and anyone who gets the mark of its name.

12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

*Here is the waiting of the believers: here are those who follow God's rules and have trust in Jesus.

13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.

*I heard a voice from heaven telling me to write this: "Blessed are those who die in the Lord in the future. The Spirit says they can rest from their work, and their good actions will be remembered."

14 And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle.

*I saw a white cloud with someone sitting on it, looking like the Son of Man. They had a golden crown on their head and held a sharp sickle in their hand.

15 And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe.

*Another angel appeared from the temple, shouting at the person sitting on the cloud, "It's time for you to use your sickle and gather the crops, because the Earth's harvest is ready."

16 And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped.

*And the one sitting on the cloud pulled his tool to harvest the earth, and the harvesting was done.

17 And another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle.

*Another angel appeared from heaven's temple, holding a sharp tool like a sickle.

18 And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe.

*Another angel appeared from the altar who could control fire. He loudly called to the one with the sharp sickle, telling him to use it to harvest the vine's clusters on Earth because its grapes were fully ripe.

19 And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.

*The angel put his tool into the ground, collected the Earth's grapevine, and threw it into a huge press for God's anger.

20 And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.

*The winepress was stepped on outside the city, and so much blood flowed from it that it reached the horse's mouthpieces, covering an area of about 1,060 lengths of a furrow.
