Philippians

Chapter 4

KJV: Therefore, my brethren dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved.

Geneva: Therefore, my brethre, beloued and longed for, my ioy and my crowne, so continue in the Lorde, yee beloued.

KJV: I beseech Euodias, and beseech Syntyche, that they be of the same mind in the Lord.

Geneva: I pray Euodias, and beseech Syntyche, that they be of one accord in the Lord,

KJV: And I intreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women which laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellowlabourers, whose names are in the book of life.

Geneva: Yea, and I beseech thee, faithfull yokefellow, helpe those women, which laboured with me in the Gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellowe labourers, whose names are in the booke of life.

KJV: Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.

Geneva: Reioyce in the Lorde alway, againe I say, reioyce.

KJV: Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.

Geneva: Let your patient minde be knowen vnto all men. The Lord is at hand.

KJV: Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Geneva: Be nothing carefull, but in all thinges let your requestes be shewed vnto God in praier, and supplication with giuing of thankes.

KJV: And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Geneva: And the peace of God which passeth all vnderstanding, shall preserue your heartes and mindes in Christ Iesus.

KJV: Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Geneva: Furthermore, brethre, whatsoeuer things are true, whatsoeuer things are honest, whatsoeuer thinges are iust, whatsoeuer thinges are pure, whatsoeuer thinges are worthie loue, whatsoeuer things are of good report, if there be any vertue, or if there be any praise, thinke on these things,

KJV: Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

Geneva: Which yee haue both learned & receiued, and heard, and seene in mee: those things doe, and the God of peace shalbe with you.

KJV: But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at the last your care of me hath flourished again; wherein ye were also careful, but ye lacked opportunity.

Geneva: Nowe I reioyce also in the Lord greatly, that nowe at the last your care for mee springeth afresh, wherein notwithstanding ye were careful, but yee lacked opportunitie.

KJV: Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.

Geneva: I speake not because of want: for I haue learned in whatsoeuer state I am, therewith to bee content.

KJV: I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.

Geneva: And I can be abased, and I can abounde: euery where in all things I am instructed, both to be full, and to be hungrie, and to abounde, and to haue want.

KJV: I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Geneva: I am able to do al things through the helpe of Christ, which strengtheneth me.

KJV: Notwithstanding ye have well done, that ye did communicate with my affliction.

Geneva: Notwithstanding yee haue well done, that yee did communicate to mine affliction.

KJV: Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only.

Geneva: And yee Philippians knowe also that in the beginning of the Gospell, when I departed from Macedonia, no Church communicated with me, concerning the matter of giuing and receiuing, but yee onely.

KJV: For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity.

Geneva: For euen when I was in Thessalonica, yee sent once, and afterward againe for my necessitie,

KJV: Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account.

Geneva: Not that I desire a gift: but I desire the fruit which may further your reckoning.

KJV: But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God.

Geneva: Now I haue receiued all, and haue plentie: I was euen filled, after that I had receiued of Epaphroditus that which came from you, an odour that smelleth sweete, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasant to God.

KJV: But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Geneva: And my God shall fulfill all your necessities through his riches with glorie in Iesus Christ.

KJV: Now unto God and our Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Geneva: Vnto God euen our Father be praise for euermore, Amen.

KJV: Salute every saint in Christ Jesus. The brethren which are with me greet you.

Geneva: Salute all the Saintes in Christ Iesus. The brethren, which are with me, greete you.

KJV: All the saints salute you, chiefly they that are of Caesar’s household.

Geneva: All the Saintes salute you, and most of all they which are of Cesars houshold.

KJV: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

Geneva: The grace of our Lord Iesus Christ be with you all, Amen. Written to the Philippians from Rome, and sent by Epaphroditus.
