Chapter 33

KJV: Woe to thee that spoilest, and thou wast not spoiled; and dealest treacherously, and they dealt not treacherously with thee! when thou shalt cease to spoil, thou shalt be spoiled; and when thou shalt make an end to deal treacherously, they shall deal treacherously with thee.

Geneva: Woe to thee that spoylest, and wast not spoyled: and doest wickedly, and they did not wickedly against thee: when thou shalt cease to spoyle, thou shalt be spoyled: when thou shalt make an ende of doing wickedly, they shall doe wickedly against thee.

KJV: O LORD, be gracious unto us; we have waited for thee: be thou their arm every morning, our salvation also in the time of trouble.

Geneva: O Lorde, haue mercie vpon vs, wee haue waited for thee: be thou, which waste their arme in the morning, our helpe also in time of trouble.

KJV: At the noise of the tumult the people fled; at the lifting up of thyself the nations were scattered.

Geneva: At the noise of the tumult, the people fled: at thine exalting the nations were scattered.

KJV: And your spoil shall be gathered like the gathering of the caterpiller: as the running to and fro of locusts shall he run upon them.

Geneva: And your spoyle shall be gathered like the gathering of caterpillers: and he shall go against him like the leaping of grashoppers.

KJV: The LORD is exalted; for he dwelleth on high: he hath filled Zion with judgment and righteousness.

Geneva: The Lorde is exalted: for hee dwelleth on hie: he hath filled Zion with iudgement & iustice.

KJV: And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and strength of salvation: the fear of the LORD is his treasure.

Geneva: And there shall be stabilitie of thy times, strength, saluation, wisdome and knowledge: for the feare of the Lord shalbe his treasure.

KJV: Behold, their valiant ones shall cry without: the ambassadors of peace shall weep bitterly.

Geneva: Behold, their messengers shal cry without, and ye ambassadours of peace shal weepe bitterly.

KJV: The highways lie waste, the wayfaring man ceaseth: he hath broken the covenant, he hath despised the cities, he regardeth no man.

Geneva: The pathes are waste: the wayfaring man ceaseth: hee hath broken the couenant: hee hath contemned the cities: he regarded no man.

KJV: The earth mourneth and languisheth: Lebanon is ashamed and hewn down: Sharon is like a wilderness; and Bashan and Carmel shake off their fruits.

Geneva: The earth mourneth & fainteth: Lebanon is ashamed, and hewen downe: Sharon is like a wildernes, and Bashan is shaken and Carmel.

KJV: Now will I rise, saith the LORD; now will I be exalted; now will I lift up myself.

Geneva: Now will I arise, saith the Lord: now will I be exalted, now will I lift vp my selfe.

KJV: Ye shall conceive chaff, ye shall bring forth stubble: your breath, as fire, shall devour you.

Geneva: Ye shall conceiue chaffe, and bring forth stubble: the fire of your breath shall deuoure you.

KJV: And the people shall be as the burnings of lime: as thorns cut up shall they be burned in the fire.

Geneva: And the people shall be as the burning of lime: and as the thornes cut vp, shall they be burnt in the fire.

KJV: Hear, ye that are far off, what I have done; and, ye that are near, acknowledge my might.

Geneva: Heare, yee that are farre off, what I haue done, and ye that are neere, know my power.

KJV: The sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness hath surprised the hypocrites. Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?

Geneva: The sinners in Zion are afraide: a feare is come vpon the hypocrites: who among vs shall dwel with the deuouring fire? who among vs shall dwell with the euerlasting burnings?

KJV: He that walketh righteously, and speaketh uprightly; he that despiseth the gain of oppressions, that shaketh his hands from holding of bribes, that stoppeth his ears from hearing of blood, and shutteth his eyes from seeing evil;

Geneva: Hee that walketh in iustice, and speaketh righteous things, refusing gaine of oppression, shaking his handes from taking of gifts, stopping his eares from hearing of blood, and shutting his eyes from seeing euill.

KJV: He shall dwell on high: his place of defence shall be the munitions of rocks: bread shall be given him; his waters shall be sure.

Geneva: He shall dwell on hie: his defence shall be the munitions of rockes: bread shalbe giuen him, and his waters shalbe sure.

KJV: Thine eyes shall see the king in his beauty: they shall behold the land that is very far off.

Geneva: Thine eyes shall see the King in his glory: they shall beholde the lande farre off.

KJV: Thine heart shall meditate terror. Where is the scribe? where is the receiver? where is he that counted the towers?

Geneva: Thine heart shall meditate feare, Where is the scribe? where is the receiuer? where is hee that counted the towres?

KJV: Thou shalt not see a fierce people, a people of a deeper speech than thou canst perceive; of a stammering tongue, that thou canst not understand.

Geneva: Thou shalt not see a fierce people, a people of a darke speache, that thou canst not perceiue, and of a stammering tongue that thou canst not vnderstande.

KJV: Look upon Zion, the city of our solemnities: thine eyes shall see Jerusalem a quiet habitation, a tabernacle that shall not be taken down; not one of the stakes thereof shall ever be removed, neither shall any of the cords thereof be broken.

Geneva: Looke vpon Zion the citie of our solemne feastes: thine eyes shall see Ierusalem a quiet habitation, a Tabernacle that can not be remooued: and the stakes thereof can neuer be taken away, neither shall any of the cordes thereof be broken.

KJV: But there the glorious LORD will be unto us a place of broad rivers and streams; wherein shall go no galley with oars, neither shall gallant ship pass thereby.

Geneva: For surely there the mightie Lorde will be vnto vs, as a place of floods and broade riuers, whereby shall passe no shippe with oares, neither shall great shippe passe thereby.

KJV: For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; he will save us.

Geneva: For the Lorde is our Iudge, the Lord is our lawe giuer: the Lord is our King, he will saue vs.

KJV: Thy tacklings are loosed; they could not well strengthen their mast, they could not spread the sail: then is the prey of a great spoil divided; the lame take the prey.

Geneva: Thy cordes are loosed: they could not wel strengthen their maste, neither coulde they spread the saile: then shall the praye be deuided for a great spoile: yea, the lame shal take away the pray.

KJV: And the inhabitant shall not say, I am sick: the people that dwell therein shall be forgiven their iniquity.

Geneva: And none inhabitant shall say, I am sicke: the people that dwell therein, shall haue their iniquitie forgiuen.
